TREDEGAR: New DVD To Be Released
Ray Phillips, original drummer and founding member of legendary Welsh rockers BUDGIE and TREDEGAR, is continuing work on his very first solo album, tentatively due later this year. In addition, there are plans to issue a couple of TREDEGAR DVDs, one of which will feature a live show as well as an all-new 2009 documentary/interview film. There are also plans to release rare, never-before-seen footage (promo videos, and three live television interviews) and to make the TREDEGAR albums available for download from various digital retailers.Ray is also putting pen to paper to produce his first book, which will feature many tales from the road, especially those from his BUDGIE years: from 1967 to late 1973.

TANK New Lineup
TANK have re-grouped and are ready for battle once more. TANK now has a new all-star line-up fully equipped to crush everything in its path. Joining Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar will be original TANK drummer Mark Brabbs alongside two new recruits — ex-RAINBOW/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman Doogie White and ex-BRUCE DICKINSON bassist Chris Dale. Unfortunately, original TANK vocalist/bassist Algy Ward has decided to retire from active service and will concentrate his efforts on writing his autobiography.
BLITZKRIEG Cancels Show At The East Riding Rock Festival and adds More Dates
BLITZKRIEG have cancelled their previously announced October 4 appearance at this year's East Riding Rock Festival at the Memorial Hall in Beverley, United Kingdom. Vocalist Brian Ross is still recovering from a punctured lung and fractured ribs, that he sustained during a recent trip to Greece. Brian and the band would like to apologize to everyone involved.

DIAMOND HEAD Reissues On Universal Music (Japan)
Japan's Universal Music has re-released the "Borrowed Time" (1982) and "Canterbury" (1983) LPs from DIAMOND HEAD as part of a special "NWOBHM Hall Of Fame" collection series. The albums are faithful carded reproductions of the original album sleeves and feature bonus tracks, all delivered on Super High Material (SHM) CDs. "Borrowed Time" comes in a gatefold sleeve with miniature poster and lyric sheet. Bonus tracks include the "Four Cuts" EP ["Trick Or Treat", "Dead Reckoning" and "Shoot Out The Lights"] and from the "Heat Of The Night" release, "In The Heat Of The Night", "Play It Loud" (live), "Sweet & Innocent" (live) and the 1982 Tommy Vance interview with Sean Harris and Colin Kimberley. "Canterbury" comes with reproductions of the original inserts supplied with the vinyl album, lyric sheet, and bonus tracks of the 12" extended version of "Makin' Music", "Sucking My Love" (live at Reading) and the Andy Peebles interview. For the collector, there are seven albums in this series including JOHN SYKES, QUARTZ, FIST, WHITE SPIRIT and GARY MOORE. WITCHFINDER GENERAL Prepares To Release New Album
WITCHFINDER GENERAL will release its new album "Resurrected" on August 30 in the USA and September 2 in the UK via Buried In Time And Dust Records.
This will be their first recording in over 25 years, featuring the original lineup with Phil Cope (guitar), Rod Hawkes (bass) and Dermot Redmond (drums) plus new vocalist Gary Martin in place of original singer Zeeb Parkes. RITUAL Albums To Be Reissued With Bonus Tracks
Shadow Kingdom Records continues to give attention to some of the classic and rare NWOBHM treasures. This time RITUAL (UK) is getting the royal treatment.
This month the heavy metal label is reissuing RITUAL's early albums on CD; "Widow" (1983) and "Valley Of The Kings" (1993). Both albums include bonus tracks, an interview in the "Widow" booklet, lyrics, new and original artwork (you can flip the booklet) and more! The albums are expected in stores before the end of the month.
SCARAB Reactivated And In Studio
Reactivated underground NWOBHM band SCARAB, whose 1984 "Poltergeist" single is reportedly one of the most sought-after NWOBHM singles ever released, will enter Symbol Of Life studios in South Wales in August to begin recording its first-ever full-length album "A Requiem Of War". A gatefold 10-inch limited-edition vinyl EP featuring a re-recorded track from each SCARAB lineup will act as a taster for the double album out around Christmas on The Miskatonic Foundation label.

SCARAB's new lineup is: Dave Parrish on guitar (founding member),

PRAYING MANTIS have commenced work on their long-awaited new studio album with the working title of "Touch the Rainbow". The CD will likely be recorded during the month of September in Atlanta, Georgia for an early 2009 release via Frontiers Records.

BLITZKRIEG and TYGERS OF PAN TANG have been confirmed as the headliners of the Rock Of Ages Fest 2008, a charity event in aid of cancer research happening on September 6-7 at The Asylum in Birmingham, England.
SWEET SAVAGE Release "Eye of the Storm - The Early Years" on High Roller Records
Maniacal Records (USA) and High Roller Records (Germany) have announced a joint vinyl release for 2008, a SWEET SAVAGE two-LP release of studio material and live songs from the band's early years (1978-1981) done with the group's co-operation. Due in the summer, "Eye of the Storm - The Early Years" marks the first time that original studio recordings from the late '70s and early '80s are properly made available to the general public and also the first time that most of the songs have been committed to vinyl. The material consists of studio material and some live cuts from the early years. This is rare studio and live material that holds its own alongside the other NWOBHM greats of that era like ANGELWITCH, IRON MAIDEN, HOLOCAUST and TYGERS OF PAN TANG. 500 copies will be pressed and only 250 will be available for the USA. Reactivated CYNIC (not to be confused with the USA outfit!!) will release its long-awaited new album "Suburban Crisis" on June 30. ATTACKER Announces New Vocalist!
New Jersey metallers ATTACKER have announced the addition of Walter Figueroa to the group's ranks. Figueroa is the former lead singer of SEVERED HAND and he has also been involved with progressive rock/metal band PARADOX (New Jersey). Former vocalist Bob Mitchell departed from the band right after their special "Battle At Helm's Deep" show at KIT X, due to ongoing personal and financial circumstances.
MARTYR Signed With Rusty Cage
Recently, Dutch metal band MARTYR signed a record deal with Rusty Cage records. This summer, a re-release of the album "For The Universe" will see the light, which will contain four bonus tracks.
Reunited BLACK ROSE Releases First New Recordings In 20 Years

TOKYO BLADE: New Lineup Revealed
The new lineup of the reactivated TOKYO BLADE will include founding lead guitarist Andy Boulton, former ARREST lead guitarist Bryan Holland, current OVERLOADED vocalist Chris Gillen, drummer Lorenzo Gonzalez and ex-MINDCANDY bassist Frank Saparti. TOKYO BLADE, known for such metal anthems as "Midnight Rendezvous", "Night Of The Blade" and "If Heaven Is Hell", has reformed and is currently booking a European tour with confirmed dates in November 2008 on the NWOBHM Festival II in Athens, Greece (Nov. 08, 2008) and the Keep It True festival in Germany (Nov. 14, 2008). The band has been confirmed for The Monsters Ball, set to take place Friday, October 12 at The Rock Room of the Sterling hotel in Allentown, Pennsylvania and Saturday, October 13 at Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey. RAVEN will also perform at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio on September 15 and is one of the confirmed bands for the Hard Rock Hell festival, set to take place from November 9-11 at Butlins in Minehead, UK (Somerset).
OVERLORDE announces new singer
OVERLORDE have announced that Chris Colfax has permanently joined the group as its new lead vocalist. "The band looks forward to working with Chris as they write and prepare for the release of their second CD on Sonic Age Records".

BLITZKRIEG releases "Theatre Of The Damned" in August & confirmed for Wacken Open Air, Germany
Blitzkrieg will release their new album, entitled "Theatre of the Damned" on August 10 via Germany's Armageddon Music. The CD was recorded at Absurd Studio in Hamburg with producer Schroedey and co-producer Biff Byford (Saxon). According to a posting on the Armageddon website, the album offers the same authentic heavy metal of the '80s along with a super freshness and total attitude. Furthermore, the band has been confirmed for this year's installment of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 2-4, 2007 in Wacken, Germany.
REKUIEM parts ways with drummer
REKUIEM (formerly REQUIEM) has parted ways with drummer Karl Wilcox (DIAMOND HEAD). According to the group, the band's plan to perform live shows later this year was proving difficult to envisage with Karl's other commitments, so the band now plan to carry on into this next realm with a new drummer."

DIAMOND HEAD Finalizing New Album, Planning Video Shoot
DIAMOND HEAD is currently putting the finishing touches on its new album, "What's In Your Head?", due later in the year. A video for the song "This Planet and Me" is also in the works. "What's In Your Head?" was previously described by the band as "a powerful but varied collection of songs." Other songtitles set to appear on the album include "Nothing To Lose" ("an hypnotic track with great lyrics from singer Nick Tart"), and the "Reign Supreme" ("the heaviest track DIAMOND HEAD have recorded since 'Am I Evil?'").

CLOVEN HOOF: Reunited lineup to make live debut in March 2007
CLOVEN HOOF have annouced their first live show with the reunited line up. The band will play at the Limelight club in Crewe (UK) on Thursday 29th, March 2007. As the bands states: "It promises to be quite a night, as we will be committed to tight recording deadlines for the early part of 2007. So a rare chance to see us live in action, as we will tear through a set packed with HOOF classics. Two songs from the forthcoming album, "Throne Of Damnation" will also get an airing for the first time, so be there and prepare to feel the power!" Other news is, that CLOVEN HOOF has been confirmed for the British Steel Festival 2, set to take place April 28, 2007 at The Pitz, Milton Keynes, England. WITCHFINDER GENERAL reunites and begins work on new album
WITCHFINDER GENERAL has reformed and is presently holding auditions to replace singer Zeeb Parkes, who has moved on to other things and wishes to keep his identity anonymous. Derm [drummer Dermot Redmond], Rod [Hawkes, bass] and Phil [Cope, guitar] are back together and it's official. They have started recording two tracks this month with a view to doing the third album. The band are currently looking for a vocalist to replace Zeeb.
Re-issues of CLOVEN HOOF albums "Dominator" and "A Sultan's Ransom"
Escape Records will reissue CLOVEN HOOF's classic power metal albums "Dominator" (1988) and "A Sultan's Ransom" (1989) as part of a boxed double album deluxe set. Two bonus tracks are included, along with a glossy booklet containing rare archive pictures.
JAGUAR's "Holland '82" issued as part of Majestic Rock's 'Archive' Series
Majestic Rock Records has launched its 'Archive' series of rare live and studio recordings with the limited-edition, internet-only release of a previously unreleased live recording from JAGUAR. "Holland '82" was recorded at the Siesta Club, Hengelo, Holland on December 17, 1982 and is described as "a superb soundboard recording capturing the band at the height of its powers." Russ North back in CLOVEN HOOF
Russ North has returned in the Hoof, according to Lee Payne of CLOVEN HOOF. He has moved back to England, and they are doing demos for the next CLOVEN HOOF album to be called "Throne Of Damnation".
R.I.P. Garry Dalloway!
Garry Dalloway, lead singer for the longtime NWOBHM rockers THE HANDSOME BEASTS, was found dead at his apartment on August 20 from an apparent heart attack. Gary already had a heart attack a few years back, probably due to his rock 'n' roll way of life and [being] overweight. He will leave three classic albums, a couple of singles, and maybe a posthumous album, as the band already recorded the follow-up to the brilliant '04' CD. Pete Way from UFO was guesting on the new songs.
Final Recordings Paul Samson to be released in September
A brand new Paul Samson CD, consisting of recordings the leader and founder of the seminal NWOBHM act SAMSON was working on in the months prior to his death in 2002, will be issued on September 4 via Angel Air Records under the title "P.S....". Produced and engineered by Paul Samson at Yds Norwich and John McCoy at the Where? House, Norfolk, the album was completed under extremely difficult circumstances by John McCoy, and is now ready for release.
"P.S...." features the following lineup of musicians: Paul Samson - Lead And Rhythm Guitars, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Keyboards, Harmony And Backing Vocals, Percussion; Nicky Moore - Lead, Harmony And Backing Vocals; Ian Ellis -Bass Guitar, Harmony Vocals, Backing Vocals; Billy Fleming - Drums And Percussion; John McCoy - Bass Guitar, Rhythm Guitar.
Paul Samson passed away at his Norfolk, England home during the afternoon of Friday, August 9, 2002 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Paul was 49 years old.

Long-running metallers RAVEN have been confirmed for this year's Bang Your Head festival, which is set to take place June 23-24 in Balingen, Germany.
ELIXIR Sign With Majestic Rock Records!
Majestic Rock Records has announced the signing of cult British heavy metal act ELIXIR. The group's new studio album, "Mindcreeper", will be released this spring, to be followed by the reissue of their back catalogue later this year in remastered and expanded form. The band will be playing live shows this spring and summer.
METAL MIRROR have reformed and release live album!
NWOBHM band METAL MIRROR have reformed. The group will shortly publish a previously unreleased live album (recorded in London 1981), featuring the original lineup, including the late great Chris Haggerty, who sadly passed away in 2004. METAL MIRROR are currently working on material for a new studio album, titled "One Thousand Days In Hell", to be recorded later this year. The band are also planning a few live shows (dates to be announced). Replacing Chris Haggerty will be Andy Barnet, who has played with many metal legends, including Paul Di'Anno, Bernie Torme, Gary Barden, Doogie White, Neil Murray, "Fast" Eddie Clark and Zak Starkey. Andy was also in the NWOBHM band URCHIN (with Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, who later joined IRON MAIDEN). Benjamin Reio Franklyn replaced Mick Green on drums. Benjamin has been playing with the BARNSTORMERS, PRAYING MANTIS, and Jon Lord.

British black metal pioneers VENOM will play their first U.K. gig of the new millennium on Sunday, March 26 at the Manchester Academy. RAVEN back in action!
RAVEN are continuing to write and demo material for a new album, their first new product since 1999's "One For All". The band was forced out of action in 2001,when guitarist Mark Gallagher suffered serious injuries. HEADACHE does no longer exist. The Dutch magazine was forced to call it a day, because of illness within the editorial staff as well as economical reasons. With great sadness, I have to inform you that ANGELWITCH are no longer together. Kevin has decided to relocate to the US; Bassist Ritchie Wicks has joined the TYGERS OF PAN TANG as their new singer, while guitarist Keith Herzberg is busy writing and preparing for the forthcoming SONS OF EDEN album (with Ritchie!).

Ace Finchum (ex-TIGERTAILZ) has joined ANGELWITCH, in the last week of August. The new Sticksman has completed the Witch line-up and is currently working on the songs for the new album. Plans are also in the making for ANGELWITCH to record their new album by the end of the year.

JAGUAR in the studio and re-release '84 album "This Time"
Neat Records (www.neatrecords.com) are going to re-release JAGUAR's 1984 album 'This Time' on CD. Besides the original ten tracks, Neat aims to add another ten (!!) bonus tracks. These 'may' include; The Jimmy Miller remixes of 'This Time' and 'Tear the Shackles Down' (originally intended for two single releases that never happened), live versions of 'This Time' songs and possibly some tracks from a post 'This Time' era demo.
The band have also entered the studio to record the next album, more on this soon.

The TYGERS OF PAN TANG will be playing at the Z Rock 2001 pt.II festival, which will take place on Aug. 26th at Maximes, Wigan in England.
Other bands at the festival are: HUMANIMAL (Jeff Scott Soto's band), HEARTLAND, ARABIA, CHANGE OF HEARTS, CONTAGIOUS, 24K & DANNY DANZI.
TYGERS OF PAN TANG REVEAL new frontman
TYGERS OF PAN TANG have confirmed that vocal duties will be taken care of by new frontman Tony Liddell. Tony has had a long career within music and will be best known to many for his vocal duties on the debut STRANGEWAYS release. Prior to STRANGEWAYS, Tony and Rob Weir had a project called SERGEANT that nearly signed with two major labels, but due to many circumstances the band disbanded. In 1987 Tony left England for the US and worked with many respected people including Jim Steinman. After being so close to finally making it, Tony decided it was time to return home to the north east of England.
During early January 2001 Tony was approached by Rob Weir re the demanding position as frontman for the legendary TYGERS OF PAN TANG. The result a meeting the next day, immediately the two hit it off and once more Tony proved he was more than capable of holding the position. Rob Weir then called the office of Z Records and sent some samples; the result the thumbs up from the label after only hearing the sample cdr for 5 minutes.The band will commence recordings during late March.

ANGELWITCH live album
