CDR Trading Rules and Procedures.

Media: Please do not use generic blanks, whether sending for blanks and postage or copying discs for trade. Preferred brands include Kodak Infoguard Gold, Sony, TDK, Maxell, and Verbatim. Gold discs seem to be the best, so whenever possible use them.

Mailing: I prefer USPS Priority Mail. The boxes are available for free and can be ordered from the USPS website. The flat rate postage is a bit more usually than if you use a mailer and put weight based postage on, but it does get there a bit quicker, and the cost is negligible when you factor in the cost of the mailer. To protect the discs, mail them either in Jewel cases, or Tyvex plastic sleeves. There are various things you can use to pad the CDs in the box. Recently I've been using pages from old newspapers, and those plastic covers you get from the dry cleaners. Bubble wrap works well but you usually can't find that for free like the old newspapers or dry cleaning covers. Don't use styrofoam peanuts - the static electricity in those things make them stick to everything including the surface of the disc, which can screw up a CDR burner or CD player. The same goes for any fiber mailers - don't use them.

If you want to trade with me, you must be able to burn DAO (Disc-At-Once) meaning that there are no 2-second gaps between tracks. I only accept complete shows - nothing with one or two songs cut out.

Labeling Discs: Don't do it. Please do not write on the disc in any way. This includes permanent and non permanent marker, etc. 99% of the time when I send blanks for a B+P I will send one disc per case. Please put a Post-It note on the cover of the jewel case, or slip a piece of paper in the case with a label on it. Please don't stick anything to the disc itself. This includes Post-It notes. If for whatever reason, you must put more than one disc in any one case put a note on the outside saying which disc is which (like: Top disc: 2/20/93 D1, Middle disc: 2/20/93 D2, Bottom disc: 2/20/93 D3). I'd rather you put no label on any disc in any way than have you write something on or stick something to the disc. As long as you include a note in the package indicating what shows are contained, I can figure out which disc is which when I listen.

That's pretty much all for the rules.

Email me if you want to trade at msluchet@rmc.com.
