Vampirism

Have a sense of humour

We all know (and love) the tales of seductive bloodsucking men running around in the middle of the night, capes trailing after in the wind. Unfortunately, that is the only definition of vampire that many people know. Many do not realize that vampirism is a legally recognized religion, and that vampires do not run around attacking others for their blood.

There are 2 kinds of vampires, blood drinkers, and psychic vampires. I hope I don't piss anyone off with that previous statements, because I know that those labels make stereotypes. I am quite aware that every vampire is different, so please, don't e-mail me telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm basing this page on what I have learned from info from ToV (Temple of the Vampire) and what some of my vampire friends have told me. I'm not god, dammit, so if there are a few indescrepancies I'm very sorry, and please tell me about them :)

Okay, back to the different kinds of vampires. Blood drinkers, obviously, drink blood. Vampires that go long periods of time start suffering from the signs of malnutrition. Despite what many people think, you can't just decide to become a vampire. ( Well, you can, but you won't be one in the truest sense.) To be a true vampire, one must be born one. The majority of myths are untrue. It will kill a vampire to drive a steak through their heart, but then again, that would kill anyone, right? :) Vampires are not immortal. Most vampires love garlic, and their skin doesn't start melting if they are touched with a cross or a piece of silver. One of the only myths that holds a little bit of truth is that vampires are sensitive to sunlight. They don't evaporate if they are in the sun, but they can start to get ill from being out in direct sunlight for very long.

It is true that most vampires age better than non-vampires, but that could probably be on account of their sun avoidance. Science has proven that exposure to sunlight causes aging.

I'd like to thank InDi for the information she provided on this information on Psychic vampires :)
Psychic vampires, do not drink blood. They feed off the energies of others. To some psychic vampires, other's emotions are like lblood to the blood drinking vampire. Psychic vampires live to drain the energies and emotions of other people, and leave them with nothing but sorrow and pain. They are not vampires in the truest sense, since they don't drink blood.

Please visit Nocturnal Visions because it can inform you more on the finer points of vampirism.
