Ms. Rains was all about town throughout September. She spent time with her friends in King's X and Podunk as they toured through the Los Angeles area. (See Photos) She visited the Rainbow a few times; House of Blues; Key Club; jammed at Highland Grounds in the Hollywood area and at Panama Joe's in Newport Beach. Checked out her friends in the band Haute Chili in San Diego. Saw her friends from the band Underground Railroad. Made a trip to Vegas, and much more. Too much to tell. The party was on! On the work front: Through Ty Tabor, the guitarist in King's X, Janet met Christian Nesmith. This union has sparked a great songwriting team. Christian (who is the son of Michael Nesmith of The Monkees) is, in Janet's words, "an amazing talent. He plays guitar, sings, and writes incredibly well. I've never really collaborated on songs with anyone. He and I just clicked. I don't think we even realized our potential until we started recording the tunes that we wrote. We sat there in awe as it (the recording) was coming together. I'm sure there is a future with this team. I'm very excited about it." Hopefully something for us to hear will be available soon. Just a few days ago, Janet went to a Barbecue at Dave Wilder's house. We remember Dave as Liz Phair's bassist who is now with Macy Gray. Other members of Macy's band were there too. Jebin Bruni (keyboardist with Liz, Fiona Apple, and now Aimee Mann) was there, as well as Rik Menck (drummer with Liz and Matthew Sweet). Other appearances were made by Nick Lashley (guitarist with Alanis) and Chris Chaney (bassist with Alanis and Methods of Mayhem). It was said to have been a great time for all. (Photos available soon) Janet plans on doing more writing and recording immediately. She keeps the business side of things private, but assures us that things are moving along and going well.
