Kat turned the key, slowly opened the door, "What on earth are you doing?" she thought to herself. "This is insane." she said outloud. "What is that smell?" she thought and she raced around the house opening windows. She made her way back to the car and grabbed the box marked music and her portable CD player and headed to the kitchen. Kat plugged it in, "Yes, the power is on!" she rejoiced by loading her favorites CD's. "I Hansonize you house in the name of Kat, Chele and Jessy." Kat said as she pushed the play button and the house soon filled with the sounds of Hanson, 3 Car Garage, Kat made repeated trips to the car until finally it was unloaded. "Time for the second test." Kat thought as she lifted the telephone receiver and there was a dial tone. She was on a roll. She cranked the volume and headed up the stairs to check out the four bedrooms and two baths. Kat had bought the house sight unseen, she was trying to start over. It didn't seem possible that almost a year had passed already, she remembered it as if it happened just yesterday. Graduation was one week away, she had two more days of school and high school would be over, history, a memory, the past and in one week she would graduate. The senior advisor, Mr. Roberts came to her Economics class and signed her out and took her to the Guidance Office. The minute she saw Gramma D, she knew something bad had happened. That's the first time she heard the words, "Your parents were both killed this morning in a car accident on the way to the office. A drunk driver failed to stop and they struck him broadside, instantly killing both her father and mother." She was numb for the first four to six weeks. She barely remembered the funeral home, the funeral, the burial. That was a different life, as of today everything will change, this is the first day of the rest of her life. Kat checked the rooms out. She decided that the two smaller rooms on the back side of the house which were joined by the shared bathroom, would be Chele and Jessy's. She checked the remaining two rooms, selected the largest one for herself and rushed down the stairs bringing up the boxes marked bedroom and stacked them in the closet. Kat opened the windows upstairs also to help air out the house. She decided she needed to disinfect, so she would go tho the market, get a few groceries and a few cleaning supplies. She thought as she heard a large truck, can't be, furniture isn't suppose to come until the morning. Looking out the window, she found an unmarked delivery van parked across the end of her driveway and the driver was headed to the house across the street, the brown one she had looked at when she was trying to decide which room to select. The house looked familiar but why? Kat rushed to the hall closet where she had stashed boxes and found the one with rollerblades listed under contents. She quickly emptied her green Jansport book bag and tossed in a pair of sneakers and her purse and she headed out to blade the four blocks to the market. She didn't notice the white van parked out front with the blonde in the back who was checking her out. Kat quickly changed from blades to sneakers and grabbed her purse, headed in, putting her bag and blades in a cart and shopped for what she needed. As she headed down the far aisle, unknown to her, Isaac and Taylor Hanson walked up to the cash register and made their purchases and returned to he van. "So which one of you got her number?" Zac asked. "Whose number?" Tay asked. "The drop dead gorgeous brunette with hair down to her ass and it was a mighty fine ass." Zac said. "Where?" Isaac said. "She went in the market." Zac said. "There she is now." Zac noted and all three watched until she was out of sight. Isaac started the van and headed out. Kat made her purchases and loaded her bag, donned her blades and headed home. She stopped at the corner pizza place and prepaid for dinner to be delivered at 7pm that night, giving her plenty of time to get some serious cleaning done. Kat was half way home and she saw the delivery van still blocking her driveway and someone unloading the boxes, make that three blonde someones and one brunette someone. They were headed to the house across the street with more boxes as she made it to the last block. On her front door she found the scribbled note."Sorry about blocking your driveway, I have instructed the drivers to always park on our side so we don't inconvenience the neighbors. Sorry again." "No problem, just don't let it happen again." she yelled as she unlocked the door. Zac looked to see who was yelling and noticed her enter the house. He would have shared his discovery, but at this moment he felt his older brothers were slave drivers. Kat headed to the kitchen and hit play and once again filled the house with Hanson. "Thank God it's about time we get a break. A fan bought the house." Isaac said. By the time the guys had the truck unloaded, Kat had finished cleaning the downstairs and was up stairs when Ike rapped on the door but because of the music volume, Kat never heard. He walked away dejected and quickly loaded up and they headed home. Kat had finished both floors and was quite proud of herself and headed to the fridge for a jug of water. A quick check of her watch and she headed to take a shower before pizza arrived. The doorbell rang and Kat took the stairs two at a time. "Perfect timing, my tummy just said so." she said opening the door and tipping the delivery person. "Here ma'am you may want this note that was in the door." the young man said handing her the note and pizza and he left. Kat retreated to the picnic table in the back yard. "Tried once more to apologize for the truck but the volume cranked so must have kept you from hearing the door." Kat read and thought to herself "Are they complaining about the volume?" as she ate her pizza. After dinner, Kat called Jessy but received no answer. "I hope she's on her way." Kat said as she dialed Chele's. "Hello" Chele answered. "Hey Chele, Sup?" Kat said. "Kat thank God you called. Are you there?" Chele asked. "There? You mean our new home? Yes I'm here. Sitting on the kitchen counter actually. I gave the place and good disinfecting, it had a bad case of closed up stinkies." Kat said. "Have you seen any sign of them?" Chele asked. "No Hanson sightings yet, but I feel them. Does that count?" Kat said. "You feel them but haven't seen them. Oh, Kat it's been too much for you, you've lost it." Chele said. "Well when you get here next week, you'll just have to find it." Kat laughed and Chele joined her. They talked another half hour before Chele complained about her running up their telephone bill and Kat was alone, once again. As she closed windows and checked to make sure the doors were locked, she noticed the black Cherokee in the driveway across the street and the lights on. She grabbed her sleeping bag, turned off the lights and headed to her room. She checked the boxes in the closet and opened the one that had phone under contents, pulling out the phone and plugging it in the phone jack. She grabbed her personal telephone book from the box and opened to the H page and looked for the Merchandise number and dialed it. "Please be there." she said. "Hello" he answered. "Isaac?" Kat asked. "Hey stranger, long time no hear." he said recognizing her voice. "Yeah it has been a while, I'm sorry things have sort turned up side down in my life. I did it! I can't believe it, but I'm here." Kat said. "Where? No you didn't?" Isaac asked. "Yes I did what you said, I sold it all, the family business, the family house, the family summer house. I'm F'ing rich! Sold all the memories," Kat stopped short as she felt the tears. "Kat you'll be okay. I promise. I wish I could hold you. Kiss you. Make it all better." he whispered. "Me too." Kat said. "I would if you'd let me." Isaac said. "I know you would. I'm closer, at least you're no longer long distance. I'm trying." Kat told him. "Kat where are you?" he asked excitedly. "Somewhere in the Middle Of Nowhere" Kat said. "Kat did you move to Tulsa?" Isaac asked. "Sure did. Why not, I said, if I move to Tulsa, I knew my Hanson friends would come visit at least! You my telephone bud, are the closest thing I have to a family, so I said hey, it could be worse." Kat told him. "We're family now eh? I hope you aren't thinking brother, sister. Kat I'd get arrested if you were my sister. I definitely don't think of you as my sister." Isaac said. "Isaac Hanson, shame. Tell me every detail." she laughed and they talked the night away. "Oh God Isaac, it's morning the sun is coming in the window of my new house. I can't believe, "Good Morning Tulsa" she yelled out the window. "Wow you sounded like you were in stereo." he said looking at his window shaking his head. "So how's the family?" Kat asked and they talked another hour before he said he had to get home, they were finally ready to record and he'd be busy for at least the next two weeks. "I'll miss you but I can't wait for the next album, so I guess I'll tolerate your leaving me for a couple of weeks. It's for the greater good." Kat said. "All you have to do is admit I'm the one and we wouldn't have to say goodbye, time and time again. Face it, you love me." Isaac said. "You are so totally full of yourself." Kat exclaimed. "Admit it you love me. I can Kat, I've never laid eyes on you but I know I love you more than anything, just tell me, I'm the one. You know it, you feel it. Just say it." he pleaded. "I'm closer but I can't. If I love, I'll get hurt. I can't do that again. Everyone I love dies." Kat hung up and cried. She heard a door slam, then a car door slam, a motor start and tires squealing. "Someone woke on the wrong side of the bed." she said and went back to her crying.
