Look At You

Part Thirty-two

Morning found all three girls up, eating breakfast together. "What's up with Momma?" Chele asked. "Did you see the looks between her and Daddy. And Daddy. Something is definitely up?" Kristina said. "Oh shit." Jessy said rushing upstairs, rapping on their door. "Come on in." Barbie said. "What's wrong Jessy?" she asked seeing the questions in Jessy's eyes as she approached. "Momma are you, um are you pregnant?" Jessy asked. "What? How? Yes we are sweetie, please be happy. We are." Barbie said scooting to sit, forgetting about Ken's arms on her belly. "Oops daddy death grip here. "How did you know?" she asked again. "We were down stairs talking and Krisinta said something about the looks between you and I remember the look on Zac's face when Daddy thanked him for being there for you. The way you look at Zac, it's different. I asked Zac you know, and he said as much as he loved me, it was between the two of you, please don't ask. It all makes sense now, the looks, the way he held all last night. There was something different, it's because of you and my little brother or sister huh?" Jessy said reaching and touching her mothers belly. "I'm so happy for you, but especially Daddy. This is way cool what you're doing Momma." Jessy said hugging her. "Oh thanks baby, someone that knows and that understands." Barbie said. "I know." Ken said rubbing her belly. "Some of it hun, but not all." Barbie said. "It's our way of saying how much we love you Daddy. Some day, years from now, I'll tell Zac how much I love him. Just like Momma loves you." Jessy said, adding, "I really am happy for both of you." as tears filled her eyes. "I can see it baby and thanks for understanding." Barbie said. "Gotta get ready for work, the countdown begins. Just piss me off Tony, give me your best shot." Jessy said leaving and heading to her room. She quickly showered, dried her hair putting it into two high ponytails and put on the latest Tony special a blue tight tank, hip hugging bells with attached suspenders and blue platform tennies. "God what's gotten into Tony, that's actually cool." Kristina said, adding, "Doesn't come in green does it?" "Not in the store, let me check the supplier though. The only green Tony likes is the almighty dollar." Jessy laughed. "Hey sis wouldn't this be perfect if we could get it in green for Big Sis." Chele said walking into the room. "Oh hey Big Sis." Chele said. "Just asked her, she's going to check the supplier." Kristina said. "What are you doing up anyway?" Chele asked. "Isaac has early class, I'm setting in and he's going to take me around campus." Kristina said, adding, "I better get ready. See ya tonight sisters." "You ready to jet lil sis?" Chele asked. "Yeppers my bestest big sissy." Jessy said grabbing her purse and her big sis. "Thanks for driving me in so Taylor can take my car in for it's checkup." Chele said. "No prob sis." Jessy said as they hit the last step and stopped noticing the two set of feet. "Oops wrong side, those are my feet." Jessy said. "You're right, I don't go with those feet I go with these feet." Chele giggled."Morning my feet." Chele said placing her feet between Taylor's wrapping her arms around his waist drawing herself to him and hugging him tight. "Morning love of my life." Taylor said. "I know you are but what am I?" Chele teased. "You're my favorite weird one." Taylor said. "Oh I'm so glad." Chele said kissing him deeply. "Come here." Jessy said taking Zac's hand and leading him to the patio. "Zac I love you for helping Momma accept the truth yesterday. You're the greatest. Wow who'd think someone our age would be so good at this sort of stuff. Wow you amaze me." Jessy said kissing him deeply. "Wow i's great to be appreciated." Zac said kissing her back as deeply. "I'm so happy for them." Jessy hugged him tight. "I can feel. Man what's it going to be like when it's ours." Zac asked. "Oh you'll have to bring me back down to earth." Jessy said. "Boy I'd better make sure your inside when I get you pregnant. I know I coud get you off the ceiling. But I don't have a space shuttle." Zac laughed. "Hey what are you doing up hun?" Jessy asked. "Came to see you off to work. Taylor wants me to ride along to the Saturn dealership. Like the outfit." Zac said his hand caressing her belly. "What?" Jessy asked. "Oh, just thinking how lucky Ken is." Zac answered. "Someday hun. That'll be us someday."Jessy said hugging him. "Ready to hit the road Sis?" Chele asked. "If we got to." Jessy said wiping her eyes and heading to the car. "You have a nice day, here's hoping Tony pisses you off so you can home to me." Zac said, adding, "I'll meet you for lunch." "Oh I like that, just you and me." Jessy said kissing him sweetly then opening the garage door. "Bye guys" they said as Jessy started the car and backed out and headed to town. "Thanks for getting me these hours." Chele said. "That jerk would have promised me anything yestereday, when I told him I was through after he didn't show to open the store. He can handle store closing from now on." Jessy said. "Well today I give him my two weeks notice. Watch him croak. I'll tell him while you're at lunch." Chele warned. "Good I wouldn't want you to spoil my lunch." Jessy laughed. "Is Taylor picking you up?" Jessy asked. "Yeah we're going to the mall. I'm not sure if I want to wear the dress I have. I thought I'd look around is all." Chele said. "Man think alike. I was hoping he was so I could drag Zac around from Bridal shop to bridal shop." Jessy laughed. "Bridal shop?" Chele said. "Yeah the have lots of formal dresses and the Country Club is not someplace for a sexy drop dead number. Those people are prudes." Jessy said. "Oh that means I have to find a new dress, the one I have plunges on both sides." Chele laughed. "So you want to torture him solo or have us come along and the guys can hang out together sharing their misery." Jessy asked pulling into the parking lot. They opened the store and Jessy dialed her cell phone, "What's the decision, I'm calling Zac." Jessy asked. "Leave it up to the guys, solo or shared misery." Chele laughed greeting the first customer of the day. "Hey hun." Jessy said. "What's up, tell me Tony pissed you off all ready." Zac asked. "How can he, he's not here. Remember Chele is the other opener now he closes." Jessy said. "Oh that's right. What's up then?" he asked again. "Zac I want to go shopping after work, I'd like a new formal for Saturday. Something really special." Jessy said. "Jessy you have a closet full of formals." Zac pointed out. "But Zac it's a special night, I want to look special when we tell people we're engaged is all." Jessy said. "You'd look special to me wearing a gunny sack. Really special in nothing at all." Zac said. "I don't think so, not at the Country Club Zac. Tulsa isn't read for that." Jessy laughed. "I am." he answered. "Zac Hanson I am not showing up in my birthday suit, that things getting old." Jessy laughed. "It's still in style." he laughed. "For that you have no choice in the matter. And you tell that brother laughing in the background that he better be here for the same duty. We were going to go together so you guys would have each other to hangout with but not now." Jessy said. "Oh hun don't be mad." Zac pleaded adding, "I didn't mean anything by it Jessy. Whatever makes you happy hun. That's what we'll do, you know I love you." Zac said. "I know Zac. I'm not mad at you. I love you too Zac. Daddy will buy me the dress Zac, but I'd like it if you'd take me okay?" Jessy asked. "Hun it's not the money, I'll buy your dress. Let me Jessy, please." Zac asked. "Oh Zac it's not the money, I can buy my own dress. I only wanted you with me is all. I miss you so when we aren't together. Say you'll be with me Zac, please." Jessy pleaded. "Of course I will. I can't stand to be apart from you either and I'm buying your dress no more discussion. I love you and I'll be there for lunch and to take you shopping after work" Zac said. "Bye hun, I love you." Jessy said hanging up, putting her phone away and heading to greet the customer. The morning stayed busy, a constant flow of customers, barely leaving time for Jessy to call the distributor about the green outfit. Jessy ordere two of each red, blue, greeen for future use, putting them on her credit card and having them shipped to the house. Before she knew it, Zac was there to pick her up for lunch. When she made her way to the car and when he opened the door, on her seat was a small box wrapped in blue paper with light blue ribbon. "What's this about?" Jessy asked picking up the box and turning to Zac. "I just felt like buying you something is all." Zac said. "Because you thought I was mad?" Jessy asked. "No hun because I love you. I just wanted to show you." Zac said as Jessy opened the package. "Zac two boxes?" Jessy exclaimed. "Yep pick one." Zac said. "This one." Jessy said picking up a box, tearing at the paper. "Oh it's beautiful. A locket. I've never owned one. Thanks hun." Jessy said hugging him trying to open it. "You're inside. Thank you." she squealed. "Now the other one." Zac said. "No put this on me." Jessy said handing him the locket and pulling up her hair. "Okay but then the other box." Zac said placing the locket around her neck. "Now the other box." Zac insisted. "Hun we have to get me something to eat. I'll open it later." Jessy said picking up the box and sliding into the seat. "No Jessy open it now." Zac begged. "What's the big deal Zac?" Jessy asked. "Please" he begged desperately. "Don't have a cow man." Jessy laughed opening the box, "Oh my God. Zac. It's, it's." Jessy said overcome by emotion, tears streaming down her face. "Jessy I didn't plan on asking you the other night so I didn't have a ring for you. I saw this and it was just you. Jessy make me the happiest man alive twice and tell me you'll marry me again?" Zac asked. "Oh yes Zac. I can't believe you've done this. It's so beautiful Zac. I love it and I love you." Jessy said kissing him with everything she felt for him in her heart. "Jessy I love you more than anything. You've made me so happy." Zac said lifting the ring from the box and placing it on her finger, kissing it, her hand, then her lips tenderly. "We better get you something to eat." Zac said closing her door. "Oh Jessy come here." Zac said taking the hankie from his pocket and wiping her eyes. "Thank god you carry protection." Jessy laughed. "My girl insisted. Smart isn't she?" Zac asked. "If you say so, she must be." Jessy smiled leaning to kiss him. She unbuckled herself and crawled into his lap. "Zac I love you so much. I am so touched by this. That you did this by yourself. I'm speechless." Jessy said her lips showing him how deeply she loved him. The embraced for the longest time, "Jessy we didn't get you any lunch and there's only ten minutes left." Zac said. "Let's just go across the street, I can get munchies and something to drink." Jessy said. "I'm sorry hun, we'll go get something to eat as soon as you're done working. Okay?" Zac asked. "It'll be fine. I wouldn't have given up my time with you for anything." Jessy said. As Zac rounded the car and opened her door. They headed across the street, loaded up on muchies and got something to drink and headed back. "Zac that cashier looked at us funny, did she ring you up the other day?" Jessy asked. "Oh god I hoped you hadn't noticed but yeah." Zac said. "Felt like she really checked me over and she was going to tell you what she thought." Jessy lauged.   "Yeah that's the impression I got. Must be she couldn't find anything wrong. I sure haven't." Zac said hugging her tight. "See you in four hours." Zac said kissing her goodbye. "Bye my husband to be." Jessy said as she entered the store. "What did you say?" Tony asked.   "You heard me got a problem with it." Jessy said waving her left hand in his face. "Jesus Jessy you're a baby. What you doing getting married?" Tony asked. "That's a sexist, age discriminative remark boss you have a definite problem." Jessy said. "You haven't even lived yet. Why are you getting married, are you pregnant?" Tony asked. "How dare you ask such a personal question? I am shocked, and deeply offended by your attitude. I won't stand for this." Jessy said grabbing her cell phone and dialing. "Mr. Conners please my name is Jessica Kendall, he handles my father's affairs, Ken Kendal." Jessy said. "Mr. Conners thank you for taking my call, I need help. I'm employed by Zats and my boss has just humiliated me, calling me a baby, telling me I'm too young to bet married, and asking if I am pregnanat right in front of customers. I'm so hurt I can't believe someone would treat me this way. I've done nothing but be a good employee, made a big difference in the sales in his store, I've been good for business. I have given him no reason to treat me this way, except give him two weeks notice." Jessy explained fighting back the tears. "Jessy are you still in the store?" Mr. Conners asked. "Yes sir." she answered. "May I speak with your boss, dear." he asked. "Tony my father's attorney would like to speak with you." Jessy said offering him her cell phone. "I'm not talking to any god damn attorney. Stop acting like a damn spoiled rich brat. Why else does a sixteen year old get married besides being knocked up. Now get back to work and earn the money I pay you. Get over to that customer, shake that thing and talk him into spending his paycheck in hopes he gets a hottie like you." Tony yelled and the customer turned around and left the store. Jessy heard her name being called and put the phone to her ear, "Yes Mr Conners, this is Jessy." she said tears streaming down her face. "Dear do you feel he may get violent?" he asked. "No I've never seen that, but I've also never seen him yell this way. My sister also works here and was supposedly giving her two weeks notice. That may explain his hostile attitude." Jessy said. "Jessy the police are on their way, after what I heard I called and reported the potential for violence, the man definitely is agitated with you. I told them I would rather not take a chance." he explained. "Here they come now." Jessy said. "What the hell have you done you brat. How could you?" Tony screamed. "Excuse me sir, Officer Washington, may I ask you to lower your voice and move away from the young lady sir?" the first officer said. "Damn bitch what is wrong with you?" Tony screamed as the second office stepped between the two. "Officer Hurley sir you will have to go through me to get to this young lady." the second officer said. "Young lady, ask her she's knocked up and getting married. Rich bitch, that's what she is. In here flaunting herself at customers all day. She's just begging for it and someone gave it to her all right you mark my word. That's the only reason a teenager gets married, screwed around and got knocked up." Tony screamed. "For the last time sir, lower your voice and move away." Office Washington asked. "Hell no, this is my store and no knocked up teen bitch is going to treat me this way." Tony yelled. "Which way are you referring to sir?" the officer asked. "Waltzes in here like she owns the world, changing things to suit her and then up and quits on me." Tony yelled. "What did she change sir?" the officer asked. "The music, those posters, that one there the little one, he knocked her up." Tony accused. "Sir did she tell you she was pregnant. Do you know this for a fact sir?" Officer Washington asked. "No she called him her husband to be, why else would a sixteen year old that looks like that get married?" Tony asked. "I'm sorry sir but that is none of my business sir." Officer Washington said. Jessy heard her name again and put the phone to her ear. "Yes Mr.Conners" Jessy asked. "Let me speak with officer Hurley." he asked. "Excuse me Officer Hurley, my father's attorney, Mr. Conners would like to speak with you." Jessy said offering him her phone. When the conversation was over Jessy spoke with Mr. Conners who asked her to come to his office. "What about my sister? I'm afraid for her?" Jessy said. "I don't need either of you rich bitches around here." Tony screamed. "Sir that is enough. One more outburst like that and I'll take you in." Officer Washington explained. "Bull shit I haven't done a damn thing wrong why are you harassing me. Arrest that boyfriend of hers, isn't there a law against knocking up a kid?" Tony screamed. "That would be none of my business sir the young lady is sixteen years old that would be hers and her parents business, none of mine or your sirs." Officer Washington explained. "Jessy do what I ask, I want you to apologize, say I'm sorry I don't know what I did to make you treat me this way, say it Jessy and try to sound like you're crying at the end." he asked. "Tony I'm sorry I don't know what I did to make you treat me like this." Jessy said fighting back the tears. "You're leaving, that's what you did. I give you a job, I even give you commission and I change things for you and you turned things around and you go get knocked up and leave you stupid bitch." he screamed. "That's it sir. I'm placing you under arrest for disorderly conduct in a public place sir. If you'll turn around please and place your hands behind your back. Sir running will not do you any good." Officer Washington said sprinting after him. "Pushed the right button Jessica. Good job. As of now you and your sister are no longer employed at Zats. Officer Hurley will wait with you until your sister returns then I want both of you in my office. Turn in anything time cards, keys to the officer. Any questions Jessy?" he asked. "No. I understand sir." Jessy said and hung up. "Jessy what's going on, are you all right." Chele screamed. "Lil Sis you all right?" Taylor asked holding her. "Yeah I'm okay. A little shook is all. Did you give your notice?" Jessy asked. "No I chickened out. You know me don't like to hurt anybody." Chele said. "Well you're no longer employed by Zats. We have to go see Daddy's attorney." Jessy said and they filled out time cards and turned them over to officer Hurley along with the key. The officer turned the closed sign around and locked the building giving Jessy his card and the case number. "Thank you for coming so fast, you did so much to diffuse the situation. I'm not sure what would have happened without you assistance." Jessy said shaking his hand. Taylor walked the girls to the car. Chele sat in the back holding Jessy's hand as Taylor drove to the attorney's office.
