Look At You

Part Seven

Zac and the younger five Josh, Jessie, Sam, Avie, and Mackie were in the family room watching "Men In Black" while Nick and Ben were playing Rush 2. Out by the pool still were both sets of parents, Isaac and Kristina, and Chele and Tay. "So you're being paid more than your sister? Did you drive a harder bargain or is your boss treating you unfairly?" Tay asked. "I hate to say it but I think he has treated us unfairly, I told him I wouldn't dress like a freak, so I think he figured I wouldn't get all the sales. Won't he be surprised. He knew I was Jessy's sister, I didn't go in for a job. I went in for directions home. So he thinks Jessy and I wouldn't discuss paychecks. Let's talk about something else, I really need this job, and I worry about Tony's smarts right now. So where you going to take me for dinner Friday night?" Chele asked to change the subject. "Depends on how late you work, I guess. The store closes at 10 and most restaurants are closed by then, we'd have to go fast food or truck stop, sounds romantic doesn't it." Taylor said. "Truck stop eh? You are the romantic devil." Chele chuckled. "I'll call you as soon as I know what I'm working. Oh I don't have your number, I'll tell you when I get home, I'm assuming I'll see you tomorrow?" Chele asked splashing Isaac then point at Tay when Isaac looked. Isaac dove underwater, grabbing Tay's leg and dunked him. As the two horsed around trying to get the upper hand. Chele picked up a nerf water bomb ball and when Kristina started towards the shallow end, Chele tossed the ball hitting Isaac. Chele gawked at Kristina giving Isaac the impression Kristina had done it, so he swam after her. Chele made her way to Tay and when she noticed the ball near him, she lined up with Isaac and as he rose up from the water, she kissed Taylor to distract him and tossed the ball backwards. "Splatt. What the?" Isaac asked turning to see Tay's hand above the water. What he didn't see was Chele, lifting his arm and placing it on her shoulder. "I'm going to put some tunes on, be right back O'tay?" she teased. "You are different aren't you." Taylor asked. "I should hope so, what a boring place if everyone was the same." Chele said swimming to the side ladder. "Splatt" the ball hit Taylor in the face,"You're so dead Ike" Taylor hollered swimming his way. "What did I do that you didn't" Isaac said. "What are you talking about, I didn't" Taylor said. "You hit me with the ball first?" Isaac said. "Bull. Kristina did." Taylor said. "Yeah, but after that you hit me. I saw your hand up out of the water when I turned." Isaac explained. "Isaac, I did not hit you with the ball hun. Why would you think that?" Kristina said as Taylor and Isaac both turned to Chele. They hadn't noticed that Chele had filled a bucket with cold water and walked back watch them argue as they unraveled her mystery so as Isaac and Taylor figured out Chele was the instigator and turned to accuse her she tossed the bucket of cold water on the two, actually three because Kristina was determined to convince Isaac she hadn't thrown the ball. "aaaagh cold" the three screamed as Chele returned to the house to turn on the outside speakers and load the player with dance music. As she made her way back she whispered in Ken's ear to dance with Mome, then whispered the same to Daddy Hanson and both couples got up dancing. She grabbed a jumbo bath sheet and walked to Isaac, "Hold this corner for me, tight please." she asked handing him a corner then proceeded around the back of him, around Kristina pulling her into Isaac tighter and tighter and tucked the sheet together. They smiled at each other, then at Chele. Then she picked up a regular towel and headed to Tay, "I don't know what came over me. Here let me dry you off." Chele offered first drying his face and kissing him, then drying his chest, kissing each breast, teasing his nipples. Chele moved to his back drying than kissing the base of his neck. Chele towel dried his hair, kissing the top of his head then she wrapped the towel around his waist and her arms around his neck, swaying to the music as Taylor finally wrapped his arms around her waist and danced with her as they kissed. They soon found out Chele was not the only playful one out there as Barbie and Ken hipped their Chele and Tay into the pool while Diana and Walker did the same to Isaac and Kristina. "Dance floor was a little crowded, much better now don't you think?" Barbie asked. "Much better." Diana said. The movie had ended so Zac walked Jessie and Avie, while giving Mackie a ride home. "I'm going to get a change of clothes for the morning and be right back. Keep an ear out for Zoe?" Zac said making his way home. "Wow your Jessy sure has made a difference in Zac. Not that he wasn't a good boy, but from the minute she came down as herself, Zac has, has cared about something other than himself. Right Walker?" Diana said. "Loving the right woman will do that to you." Walker said drawing his wife closer and kissing her deeply. "Absolutely" Ken said pulling his wife closer and kissing her deeply. "Wow that's what I want." Kristina said. "Is there any other way." Isaac asked. "Yeah Isaac there is, sometimes you don't survive it either." Kristina said. "Welcome to the real world Isaac." Chele said. "What's that suppose to mean." Taylor asked. "You boys are a minority. In the real world Mommies and Daddies may love each other enough to make you then they split, may love each other enough to make you and get married if you're one of the lucky ones. But they don't love each other enough to work at it. So many stay together not loving each other it's pathetic. I can think of possibly three or four couples out of all of the ones I've met in my lifetime that I can't tell you they love each other and half of them are dancing right there. Taylor my folks have been married. Oh forget it, it's just like being home schooled, there's a real world out there and you just don't get it." Chele said getting out of the pool and racing upstairs. "Baby what's wrong?" Barbie asked. "Damn it." Kristina said getting out of the pool. "I'll get her Mom." Kristina said grabbing a towel and heading after Chele. "A real world?" Taylor asked. "What's that mean?" Isaac said. "Oh grow up." Barbie said heading to the house. "You'll have to excuse them boys but they're right. There is a world out there you know nothing about because someone loved you enough to protect you from it, but it doesn't mean it's not out there boys." Ken said, adding, "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go get my shoulders wet. Again." "Walker I'd like to go home now." Diana said heading across the backyards. "Diana wait." Walker called. "What's wrong with Mom, she's crying? Where did everyone go?" Zac asked. "Boys I doubt if the girls will be back down, pick things up for them than you two home and Zac, son, I don't know what to tell you. All I know is Chele is hurt, no don't look at Taylor he didn't do it but he did remind her of it so she may not seem the same when you see her in the morning. Same goes for their mother, I take it. Zac just be what you are, a good kid, don't push it just listen and hug if they let you is all son, if they let you just love them." Walker said hugging him, adding "Now to hug and love your mother." he said heading across the back yards. The boys hung the towels on the line, picked up the garbage, took the dishes into the house and loaded them in the dishwasher. Zac grabbed a broom, "You guys can go, I'll finish." he said. "Let's go Tay. There's nothing we can do until they let us love them." Isaac said wrapping an arm around Tay and headed home. After sweeping up, Zac turned off the lights, CD player and outdoor speaker, started the dishwasher and turned off the front porch light and headed to his room. He was still staring at the ceiling, wondering about Jessy in the room above him when he heard voices, Chele and Kristina. "You guys decent. Can I come out? And if I can, can I come out in boxers?" Zac asked. "Sure Zac come on out in yours?" Chele said. "Wow yours are neat. Where did you get them?" Zac asked. "Jessy and I made them at Hanson Summer Camp." Chele said. "You cease to amaze me. What's good to eat?" Zac asked. "We don't care, we eat anything at 2am." Chele laughed. "We've been known to eat anything that didn't run fast." Kristina laughed. "Well I run fast, but if it ain't fast enough let me warn you I taste nasty." Zac laughed. "Not what sis said. She said you was sweet tasting." Chele teased. "She did? She talked to you about me?" Zac asked excitedly. "Down boy. Boy have you got it bad." Chele said. "Just about as bad as Taylor, I'd say." Kristina. "He does? He talked to you about me? What did he say?" Chele asked excitedly. "Whoa, down girl?" Zac teased and they all laughed eating, sitting on the counter, drinking from the milk container, even burping together. They talked, joked, cried on Zac's shoulder, even let him love them. "Thanks Zac. I've never been able to tell someone before now, not even Jessy. Maybe someday I'll be able to tell Taylor and Jessy, but util I'm strong enough, can we keep it between us. I mean no one not Mome, no one, just us. I'd die." Chele cried and Zac hugged her tighter as Kristina hugged them both. "I swear Chele, just us. Just remember I'm always here for you. Just ask, whatever you need, I'm here." Zac whispered, adding, "Same for you Kristina." "Damn Zac I'm the eldest, I should be taking care of you." Kristina said. "Yeah me too. I'm the older sister. You sure are a special brother. I'm glad sissy loves you." Chele said. "Me too" Zac said and they all laughed. "I'll clean up, you gotta work tomorrow, you go to bed now." Zac ordered. "Yeah you're right. I can sleep now thanks to you. Night or Morning I guess." Chele said and the girls headed upstairs. Zac cleaned up and headed back to bed. 4am the clock read as he stared at the ceiling once again thinking about Jessy, as the tears started to fall. "How can someone be so cruel? Where were you God?" he whispered, crying himself to sleep.
