"Momma I'm not arguing. I know the rule and I'll be here for Sunday Dinner. How could I pass up on Tom, he pecked me many a times. Can't wait to get even." Jessy said as she headed out the door. In a matter of minutes, she was headed down the street pulling a round baler. "Where's Sis?" Chele asked wiping the sleep from her eyes as she entered the kitchen. "Where else? She's working. She says she'll be here at one for dinner, can't wait to get even with old Tom." Momma laughed as Chele curled up in a chair watching her preparing food. "You're staring baby girl, just spit it out?" Momma said without turning around. "How do you know I'm staring? How do you do that Momma?" Chele asked. "I'm not doing anything baby." Momma said and the two talked while she prepared for Sunday dinner. "That's done. Now for outside chores. Put your pants on and come on my girlie." Momma said and Chele dashed and grabbed a pair of jeans and slipped them on and caught up with Momma on the back porch, pulling on a pair of socks and chore boots. They made it to the barn filling grain bins and hay bags, cleaning out water bowls. When all the stalls were done, they opened the doors at the end of the barn and the horses came in each going into their own stall. "Close the stalls on your side baby, yours are all in now." Momma said and Chele walked down the row closing the stall doors, working her way back on Momma's side. Momma checked each animal, cleaning feet, brushing manes and tails. When they finished they opened the stall and sent the hores back into the field except the riding horses. The girls made their way back up to the house for showers and a change of clothes. Krystal was up doing laundry, four boys still in bed. At eleven Momma called up to the boys and gave them fifteen minutes to appear. They were all present and accounted for in ten, and everyone went outside and played volleyball. "It says to take this next exit Walker." Diana said reading the directions. "Now turn right. Check the odometer and we need to go six miles." Diana said. "Are we almost there Mom?" Zac asked. "Yes son, patience." Mom said. "There's the street, turn left and go another four miles." Diana read. "We're at three miles, what are we looking for? Look at the big tractor Mackie." Dad said. "Stop Dad that's Jessy driving." Zac said his head spinning around. "Zac you're just seeing things." Dad said. "There's their street coming up. Turn right Walker and it says third place on the left." Diana read as the van started counting one, two, three "There's Momma playing volleyball. Tay look there's Chele and Ike there's Krystal." Zac said as his father turned in the driveway. "Hey Hansons, welcome to country living." Barbara said. "Samuel, go pull my car out of the garage so Walker can park this out of sight. "Come on out everybody. Girls take them in and show them where the bathrooms are. Sorry baby, she's not here yet. She's out baling hay for a neighbor." Barbara answered before Zac could even ask. "I told you that was Jessy Dad driving that tractor." Zac said. "She's such a little thing and that was a big tractor." Walker said. "Boys grab the bags out of the back and take them upstairs, Mackie is bunking with Sam, Jessie and Avie get Josh's room, and Isaac, Taylor and Zac get Nick's and Ben's room. Nick, Ben, and Josh you boys can stay in the bunk house. Walker and Diana's bags go in my room. Zoe is in the spare room with me. Move it." Barbara said walking Diana into the house. "Huge old house. This is beautiful." Diana said . "Full of character. Traced it back 172 years." Barbara said taking her on a tour ending upstairs. "Turn that crap off and get outside, it's too nice to be in the house." Barbara said. "But Momma I want to beat him." Zac said. "Zac did you pay attention to who had high score?" Barbara asked. "No, who?" he asked. "Me boy and there ain't no way you'll beat me, so stop wasting time and go out in the fresh air. We're going to see the horses next. Out everyone." Barbara said and they headed out to the horse barns. They were checking out the newest foal as Jessy roared in on the tractor, "See Dad that was her." Zac said as Jessy opened the door and "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You" blared as she dropped the round baler in a row of equipment then she pulled up under the big oak tree in the front yard. She got out climbed up on the tire an jumped for a branch overhead. She climbed the tree, walking out on a branch that met the porch roof. Jessy hung on to a rope that was strung between the house and tree, climbing onto the porch roof and entering her room through the window. "Quite a monkey you have there Momma." Zac said. "Nick pull that tractor out back for me." Barbara asked. "Yes Momma." Nick answered. "I want to Momma." Sam said. "Nicholas, please let you younger brother drive but make him go out and around, not through the drive where we're walking." Barbara said. "Sure come on Sam." Nick said and the boys were off. "Don't look at me that way. There here safe, running dangerous farm machinery. You let yours go out in the world with dangerous people." Barbara said staring at Walker. "Yeah I see your point. What is Sam, nine, ten, and I'm forty plus and I wouldn't have the faintest idea what to do." Walker said. "You turn the key, the engine starts, you shift the automatic tranny into gear, put your foot on the accelerator, crank up the CD player and air conditioning and drive boy. We got it rough." Barbara laughed and they all joined her. "Let's go up to dinner. You all hungry?" Barbara asked and they headed for the house. They entered to someone playing the piano, then they heard Jessy sing "Have You Ever" the song by Brandy. "Have you ever loved someone so much it makes you cry. Have you ever needed something so bad you can't sleep at night. Have you ever tried to find the words, but they don't come out right. Have you ever. Have you ever. Have you ever been in love? Been in love so bad. You'd do anything to make them understand. Have you ever had someone steal your heart away. You'd give anything you own to make them feel the same. Have you ever searched for words to get you in their heart. But you don't know what to say and you don't know where to start. Have you ever loved somebody so much it makes you cry. Have you ever needed something so bad you can't sleep at night. Have you ever tried to find the words, but they don't come out right. Have you ever. Have you ever. Have you ever found the one, you dreamed of all your life. You'd do just about anything to look into their eyes. Have you finally found the one you given your heart to. Only to find that one, won't give their heart to you. Have you ever closed your eyes and dreamed that they will care and all you can do is wait for the day that they will care. Have you ever loved someone so much it makes you cry. Have you ever needed something so bad you can't sleep at night. Have you ever tried to find the words, but they don't come out right. Have you ever. Have you ever, What do I gotta do to get you in my arms baby. What do I gotta say to get to your heart to make you understand How need you next to me. What do I gotta do to get you in my world. Buz baby I can't sleep. Have you ever loved someone so much it makes you cry. Have you ever needed something so bad you can't sleep at night. Have you ever tried to find the words, but they don't come out right. Have you ever. Have you ever." Chele and Krystal began singing making their way to the front room. "Wow I thought I was the only one fortunate enough to be blessed with that quality of music in my home. The girls are really great." Walker said as they listened to them singing. As they finished they heared the girls talking then Jessy played the intro to "I Never Knew Lonely Til You" and the three sang. "No other lover ever really cared. When I've reached out for you, you've always been there. Now I'm so far away and baby I'm scared. Never knew lonely til you. You are my rock and the strength I need To keep me sane in this life that I lead. Now i'm not with you and my broken heart aches. I never knew lonely til you. I never knew lonely could be so blue. I never knew lonely could tear you in two. I never loved someone like I loved you. I never knew lonely til you. I can't make up for the times I've been gone. But I'll prove I love you in the words of this song. Back in your arms is where I belong. Never knew lonely til you. I never knew lonely could be so blue. I never knew lonely could tear you in two. I never loved someone like I loved you. I never knew lonely til you." As they finished this time Zac walked up behind her, "Jessy I was wrong to even try to touch you without your wanting me to. Can you ever forgive me?" Zac asked sitting down on the bench beside her, facing her. "Look at me Jessy, please. It's almost gone. You can hardly tell I made such a stupid move." Zac said as she slowly raised her eyes to see if it was true. "Oh Zac can you forgive me for slapping you. I was just so shocked you would try something like that so soon. I mean you're Zac Hanson the fair haired boy, the goodie two shoes of the music world. I forgot you're real and have feelings and insecurities like the rest of us. I wish I'd thought and not reacted. Zac I'm sorry." Jessy said searching his eyes for forgiveness. She was drawn to the warmth of his brown eyes and the smile on his face and gazed for what seemed an eternity. "Jessy are we going to make it through this?" Zac asked. "I'm willing to try, that's all I can promise." Jessy said. "That's fair, I'll try my best too. I've learned a lot, to ask before I touch, and farm girls are tough." Zac laughed and she laughed with him. "How was the concert last night?" Jessy asked. "It was okay, it would have been better if you'd been there. Will you come to the next one, please?" Zac asked. "Really?" Jessy asked excitedly. "Yeah Jessy you just tell me when I'll send a car to get you so you don't have to ask Momma." Zac offered. "I really wanted to go, I was just to afraid to face you. I was so sure you were going to hate me, I started believing myself. I sure am glad you're nicet than I thought." Jessy said. "Jessy?" Zac asked. "Yeah Zac." Jessy replied. "Can I hug you?" Zac asked. "Umm it sort of takes the surprise out of it, you know you asking, Jessy can I hug you, Jessy can I kiss you, Jessy can I hold you tight." Jessy said hugging Zac and whispering "Yeah Zac, you can hug me." They headed to dinner as Momma called, Zac holding her hand. They sat beside each other as did Chele and Tay, and Isaac and Krystal. After dinner the six got to clean up while the rest road horses, as their punishment for their poor choices. They talked things through and thought of ways they could still be together without repeating their memorable first early morning together.
