Thinking Of You

Part Five -- Thinking Of You

"I don't think I can do this. Maybe this isn't a good idea." Chele said planting her feet and bringing them both to a halt. "Now sweetie, we already talke about this. This will be good for you." Grampa Lawyer insisted. "Oh yeah and I bet you're into root canals and fingernails on the black board too." Chele teased hearing laughter behind her. "She's got your number Dad." Walker teased with another chuckle. "She sure does and this is her full of anger, hatred and fear. Sweetie just think how good you'll feel if you dump it where it belongs right on Ash's shoulders. He's the one who did this. What's that song of yours with the line about an eagle?" Grampa asked and Chele began to sing with the voice of an angel "Fly the wings of an eagle. Glide along with the wind. No matter how high, I'll be thinking of you the whole time. Fly the wings of an eagle. Glide along with the wind. No matter how high, I'll be thinking of you the whole time." "Wow Isaac swears that his Alcia has the smile of an angel, this one has the voice of an angel, I can't wait to meet the last angel." Grampa shared. "Angel, my little sis. You are so funny my Grampa." Chele said laughing as she collapsed into his arms. "Oh my. You mean the littlest one isn't an angel too? I just assumed." Grampa replied. "Oh Grampa if you think I'm a handfull you are going to love lil sis. She is the devil with PMS 24/7 according to her latest boyfriend, but by now he's not her boyfriend. She tends to change them like she does clothes. See she dumps them the minute they start wanting what all guys want so Sis goes through them fast. She said there is someone special out there and if she has to date a million guys to find him, it's just something she'll have to put up with." Chele shared and they all laughed. "Oh it sounds like this one will light up my life." Grampa insisted, adding. "My Little Florence Nightingale, Miss Chele I would like to introduce my son-in-law, Walker Hanson and my other grandsons Taylor and Zachary." "Oh hi. Umm Ike asked that you pack him a change of clothes in case he can't persuade Alicia to come stay with you. I sure hope he can. I've been going crazy worrying about her, fearing every moan or groan is her last." Chele replied as her eyes filled with tears. "Sweetie she's a strong young lady and is going to get better, I promise you." Grampa shared hugging her tight. "I'm sorry I don't mean to be a cry baby, it's just, it's, man I'm so tired. I haven't slept since I found her passed out on the floor. I've just been so afraid that if I fell asleep, I'd wake up and find her de... de..." Chele stopped unable to utter the word. "She's not going to die sweetie, I promise." Grampa said holding her tighter, adding, "Sweetie that's why you need to confront Ashley. He didn't just hurt Alicia sweetie he hurt you too." Grampa insisted. "Maybe. I don't know." Chele said still undecided. "Hey Chele my, our Grampa is pretty smart and if he says this will be good for you, I'd believe him. He told us to ignore the rejection letters and keep trying for our dream and we did." Taylor explained. "Wow I knew you were special my Grampa. Thanks for Hanson. They've made such a difference in so many lives. Their music has touched so many and given us such a peace. Grampa promise you'll stay by me, I can't do this alone." Chele said her vulnerability obvious. "Promise sweetie, I'l hold your hand and be by your side no matter what." Grampa promised as they made their way inside. Chele listened as Grampa chewed Ashley a new one and when he introduced Chele and explained she was his victim too. Chele stood tall and proud recanting her finding her best friend, her new roommate, passed out on the floor. "You left her for dead didn't you. But Alicia showed you up, she refused to die. She walked, stumbled, and crawled five miles to make it home. She's going to make it no thanks to you. I pity you, you have no idea what you've done. You sit there saying you're sorry, you didn't mean it. Bullshit. It was you fist pounding her face. Nobody told you to do it, you decided that all on your own and your pitiful I'm sorries just don't get it. Look what you've done." Chele screamed reaching into her back pocket and pulling out polaroids and making him look at it. "Remember her beautiful isn't she. She's even prettier now. Instead of being red, she's red, black and blue. Real tough aren't you, you can beat up a woman. Look at her. You did that. You're the man all right." Chele said fighting the tears, adding, "You didn't just hurt Alicia that night. You killed part of me too. I can't close my eyes without the picture of her when I first found her. God I didn't even recognize it was her. My best friend and I didn't think it was her, her face was so distorted from the beating. I died when I saw the friendship necklace   I had bought around her neck, it had to be Alicia I told myself. God forgive me but I prayed for him to take her over and over that first day, she was in so much pain. I hated myself for being so weak at a time she needed me to be strong. Why? What did she do to deserve to be beaten senseless. You know Grampa promises me she won't die but I can't imagine how she'll ever go on living, she'll have to be so totally afraid of everyone. How will she survive if she can't trust. What kind of world have you left her?" Chele confessed and as the weight was lifted from her shoulders, she collapsed to the floor. "I've got you." Taylor said racing to her side, scooping her up in his arms. "The spare room son." Walker suggested. "Daddy what's happened?" Diana asked. "It's just been a little too much for her to handle alone dear." Grampa answered as they followed Taylor. They were both pleasantly surprised to find Taylor had taken care of Cele already, shoes off and tucked into bed and he was at her side, holding her hand, "You'll be okay now. Do you here me? I won't let anything happen to you Chele. You're so beautiful. It's going to be all right now. Come back to us okay?" Taylor said over and over waiting for her to waken. "She'll be fine now that she has you to look out for her." Grampa said patting him on the back.. "Come on Diana dear, let's go see to Ashley." he said and thetwo headed back out. Taylor picked up the phon and dialed Isaac's cell number. "Hello" Isaac answered. "Hey bro. How is she?" Taylor asked. "She's still asleep but I think she's getting better. Maybe it's just my wishful thinking." Isaac answered. " Issaac answered. "So you haven't had a chance to talk her intoo staying with us yet huh?" Taylor asked. "Nah. She said she'd think about it right before she fell back to sleep." Isaac answered and Taylor explained what had been going on. "So I may be here for a while huh?" Isaac asked. "Well Chele had just told us she hadn't slept since she found Alicia. Afraid she'd wake up and find her dead. I guess I wouldn't sleep either." Taylor answered, "Yeah I hear you. Well I better get some more of that herbal stuff on her, I think it's actually working. I don't know maybe the wishfull thinking again. Thanks for calling Tay." Isaac said and he headed out for something to eat and another herbal solution.. He returned and sat facing her, applying the rags to her face while he ate. As he moved his sandwich near her she began to stir. "Hey babe you hungry?" Isaac asked and she nodded her head. "I'll be right back with something for you okay?" Isaac asked and she nodded again. "I'm glad you're getting better." Isaac whispered, leaning and kissing her forehead before making his way to the kitchen and returning with runny mashed potatoes. "Try this Alicia. Don't get upset if you can't it's kind of chunky for sipping through a straw." Isaac explained placing the straw in her mouth. "Cool our first meal together." Isaac teased and he talked to her while they ate. After consuming the potato soup, she scribbled in the air and he got her paper and pencil. "Isaac willl you hold me again. I feel so safe in your arms. You don't have to I'd understand." he read as she wrote. "If I don't want to put my arms are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. I'm just flattered you asked. Me, wow, lucky me." Isaac said crawling into bed next to her wrapping his arms around her holding her close. She began to squirm, "Babe what's wrong? You're so uncomfortable suddenly. Alicia tell me." Isaac pleaded. She finally reached for the paper and pen. "I have to go to the bathroom." he read. "Then I'll take you." Isaac said. "Cool our first trip to the bathroom together." she scribbled. "Oh you're so funny. Great first date huh?" Isaac teased. "I don't remember you asking me out." Alicia wrote. "Real smooth babe. Alicia will you do me the honor and go out with me as soon as you're better." Isaac asked. "I'd love to." Alicia wrote. Isaac lifted her and carried her to the bathroom, "Babe do you think you can stand?" Isaac asked and she nodded yes. As she stood she felt his hands reach under her night gown and pull down her panties. "You're ready. Take my hands so you don't fall." Isaac said lowering her, "Oops forgot about that, I'll get it." he answered her hesitation. Isaac grabbed the back of her gown and lifted it as she continued her way down. As soon as she was seated she pushed at him. "You want me to leave?" Isaac asked. "Duh." she moaned. "You pass out and fall I'll never forgive myself so you be careful." Isaac answered getting her some toilet paper and placing it in her hand before he left the room. As he heard the toilet flush, "Man I wanted to do that, it's so much fun making it vanish." he teased returning to her. He noticed she had kicked her panties towards the hamper. "Pretty good aim girl. If it had been open you may have made it." Isaac said placing them in the hamper. "Man our first date and I got you panties off. I'm good." Isaac teased sending Alicia into another coughing attack. "Babe I'm sorry. I promise I'll stop being so witty until you're feeling better. But I'm warning you, you're fair game as soon as you're strong enough." he warned as he pulled her to her feet and swept her up in his arms, returning her to bed. As he laid her down and rose, she grabbed onto him, pulling him back down. "What babe?" Isaac asked trying to figure out what she wanted as she pulled harder and he ended on top of her. "I don't think this is what you were aiming for." Isaac teased. "Not yet." Alicia whispered, adding, "Not on the first date." "You're so funny. I love your sense of humor. So maybe not on top of you but do you want me to lay down with you?" Isaac asked and she nodded her head yes. "I think sleeping together is a good idea. That way I won't worry as much about not hearing that you needed me. I'm warning you though, my brothers tell me I snore." Isaac teased and she turned and put her hands on him and pushed, shaking her head no and they laughed together. "I better go lock up and turn out the lights. Be right back." Isaac shared and made a quick trip around the house. When he returned he took off his jeans and then slipped into bed next to her, smiling as she quickling cuddled against him. "Goodnight Alicia. God look over her as she sleeps. Amen." he whispered. "Amen." he heard her whisper as their breathing slowed and they fell to sleep.
