"Zac I said I will come as soon as I've finished taking the test. I won't be more than three or four hours behind you." Jessy argued. "Yeah and you miss the first interview. Taylor will have Chele by his side and I'll be all alone." Zac complained. "Zac what do you want me to do?" Jessy asked totally frustrated. "I don't know." Zac mumbled walking to the window and gazing out. "I don't either." Jessy moaned feeling the wall going up again. "Zac?" Jessy asked after a few moments of silence. "Huh?" Zac mumbled still staring out the window. "Oh never mind. I'm going home. Zac I'm sick of fighting about this. I don't know what else I can do. I'm not dropping the class and that's all there is to it." Jessy declared before turning and making her way out of the room and to the front door. "He's not going to stop me. I guess I'll just go home and study then." Jessy thought turning back to see if he was coming. "Why the hell did you leave?" Zac asked as Jessy pulled up in front of the apartment. "How'd you get here before me?" Jessy asked shocked to see him. "I guess I just drove faster than you." Zac answered, adding, "Why did you leave me?" "Zac I can't fight anymore. Honest I'm sorry my life interferes with yours. I just don't know what to do anymore. All we seem to do is fight and it's killing me." Jessy answered heaving a big sigh as if the wind was knocked out of her. "I don't want to fight either." Zac whispered. "Then why are we? Zac that's all we have done for the past two weeks." Jessy whispered back leaning against the hood of her car as Zac leaned against the back of his. "Jessy I want you there." Zac insisted. "If it was that important why didn't you think to ask me before you set the date and time." Jessy argued once again. "I just assumed you would be there for me." Zac screamed back. "I give up. I can't do this. Here." Jessy screamed pulling the ring he'd given her from her finger and throwing it at him before turning and racing to the house. "Get back here." Zac screamed after her before taking chase, adding when he caught up with her at the door, "Like this is going to solve anything." "It most certainly has. The fight is over, I give up. I can't do anything right anymore so I'm not even trying." Jessy replied opening the door, slipping inside before closing it in his face saying, "Goodbye." "Jessy open this door. There is noway this is over with just a goodbye. Jessy open up." Zac hollered as he pounded on the door. "Stop making a scene. You want the neighbors complaining so I get kicked out of here. You probably do." Jessy accused opening the door. The minute the door opened, Zac pushed his way in before turning, "Do you realize you shut the door in my face? What's wrong with you?" Zac asked. "Wrong with me? Excuse me. I'm not the one who doesn't understand goodbye and a closed door means just that, goodbye." Jessy replied placing her hands on her hips and just staring. "Those are just words. I know you didn't mean it." Zac shared making his way further inside. "I should have known. You know for the last month you've been saying that a lot." Jessy said turning to face him, adding, "Zac you are wrong. I do know what I'm saying. I'm not stupid." "I didn't say you were. Why would you think that?" Zac asked, concerned about her words, adding, "You don't think that do you?" "Um let's see, According to you I don't know what I'm doing or saying and if that isn't enough, on top of it, I don't mean it." Jessy replied glaring at him. "Zac are you okay?" Jessy asked trying to figure out if he was ill or what. He plopped down on the couch as if someone had punched him in the gut. "Zac? Honey are you okay?" Jessy asked again making her way to him, placing the back of her hand on his forehead, adding, "You're not warm. Honey what's wrong?" Jessy knelt beside him while turning her hand and caressing his face, worried over the look in his eyes. "You believe it." Zac whispered. "I believe what Zac?" Jessy asked confused. "You believe I think you're stupid." Zac replied looking at her with such a distant look in his eyes. "What?" Jessy gasped. "You took your ring off." Zac mumbled searching his pockets for it. "I guess I did." Jessy whispered sitting on the floor thinking about what had taken place, gasping, "I can't believe I did that." "You did though. See." Zac said finally finding the ring. "I just can't stand this fighting Zac. You know I can't remember the last time we sat and talked. All I remember is us shouting at each other and one or the other of us walking away. It's still not settled. We're lousy fighters." Jessy shared looking at the floor shaking her head no so as not to cry. "I can't remember either. Man has it been that long?" Zac asked reaching down and lifting her face to his. "So long." Jessy whispered gazing deep into his brown eyes, past the sadness to the place they were always happy. "Yeah that long." Zac sighed smiling as Jessy rose, climbing onto his lap. "This seat taken?" Jessy teased. "Yeah by my girlfriend." Zac replied. "Uh oh. I'm out of uniform." Jessy teased lifting her hand and wiggling her ringless finger, then seriously added, "I still can't believe I did this." "It's okay babe, I knew you didn't.." Zac started to say stopping when he realized what he was about to say. "You'd be right Zac. I didn't mean it. I can't imagine my life without you." Jessy gasped as a shiver raced through her body at the thought of her life without Zac in it. "You okay babe?" Zac asked rubbing up and down her arms trying to warm her. "I just realized what I had done. Zac I didn't mean it. I'll do anything, I'll even drop out of school." Jessy pleaded as tears filled her eyes.. "Babe don't say that." Zac argued. "I'll go with you okay. Zac I just don't want to fight." Jessy pleaded. "No Jessy. You go take the test. I'm sorry I got so bent over this. I can't believe I thought an interview was more important than your education. Forgive me." Zac asked. "You.. you want me to forgive you. Oh Zac." Jessy sighed as the tears overfilled her eyes and trickled down. "Jessy will you wear my ring?" Zac asked causing her to smile. "Please Zac. I want my ring back." Jessy whispered gazing at him. "I'd like that babe." Zac replied kissing her finger then slipping the ring back on. "I promise I'll never take it off again." Jessy whispered leaning closer pressing her lips to his. "You'll have to babe." Zac said as she pulled her lips from his. "Why? I don't want to." Jessy said hiding her ring with her other hand, adding, "It's mine." "You'll have to take it off someday. Say when I ask you to marry me and put an engagement ring on that finger." Zac replied pulling her hand towards him. "I said it's mine. Well maybe. I still want it, it's mine." Jessy mumbled hiding her hand again, thinking over what he'd said, gasping, "What? On this finger? You'll ask me what?" "You heard me." Zac teased pulling her hand towards him again. "No I didn't. I was thinking about something else. I guess I wasn't paying attention." Jessy replied pulling her hand back. "Yeah right." Zac teased, adding, "You're saying you don't pay attention to what I say?" "Ummm. No. Of course I pay attention to you. Who are you again?" Jessy teased. "What?" Zac squealed before picking her up and pinning her to the couch. "Just teasing hun." Jessy whispered gazing up at him, smiling. "What?" Zac asked gazing back. "I was just trying to remember." Jessy replied. "Remember what Jessy?" Zac asked watching her smiling even more. "I was trying to remember the last time we were alone hun. I think it was... nah your sisters were here. It was the night... nah Sis and Tay were with us. Man I can't remember." Jessy answered then was off in thought. "Babe what is it?" Zac asked as the smile left her face. "Zac you still... I mean it's been so long. Zac you do want to be alone with me right?" Jessy asked. "What?" Zac gasped rising, sitting next to her totally confused by her words, leaning forward, hanging his head, placing his hands on each side, slowing shaking it no. Jessy rose wanting to ask him what was wrong but chose to wait for him to work it through, "Don't push it. Just maybe it's true and you push it, he'll just tell you what you want to hear." she thought and the insecurities returned. After a few moments of silence which felt like an eternity, "He's still quiet. Maybe he doesn't want to say anything because it's true." Jessy thought finally rising. Instead of sitting next to him, Jessy slowly rose, "No you don't. Get back here." Zac insisted pulling her back down. "Uhhh if you insist." Jessy whispered not looking at him as she sat next to him. "Babe?" Zac asked trying to get her to look at him. Jessy looked at the floor, to the side, anywhere but at Zac. "Jessy I'm sorry." Zac sighed capturing her attention. "Why Zac?" Jessy asked looking at the sadness returning to his face. "Because." Zac sighed, finally lifting his eyes to hers before finishing, "I can't believe you doubt that I want to be with you. You have to know that I love you. Maybe I don't say it all the time but I do." "I know Zac. I guess... You know when we were fighting... We've been fighting so long now... i guess I just figured you didn't really care anymore but didn't know how to tell me, you were just showing me." Jessy shared not wanting to hurt him with her confessions, adding "I mean.. Zac most of the fight ended with you storming out. You wouldn't tell me why you were so angry. And when you did.. you know that you assumed I'd be there for you.. that hurt more than you'll ever no. I doubted myself Zac. I thought how can I not be there for him, I must not love him." "You did?" Zac asked trying to understan, adding when he realized,
"Yeah you must have, you said you'd drop out of school. Jessy that's not what I want." "You were right. That was a stupid move. I can't believe I thought it. Not really though. I've got an A in that class and if I didn't take the test..." Jessy shared suddenly off in thought. "It isn't an option Jessy. I won't let you. Take the exam and get credit for the class. It would be stupid to quit now and my girlfriend is a smartie." Zac shared reaching an arm around her waist and hugging her. "Thanks Zac." Jessy sighed leaning her head on his shoulder. "Jessy?" Zac whispered. "Yeah Zac." Jessy replied looking up at him. "I know we need to talk more... but babe I gotta take a leak." Zac shared kissing the top of her head. "i know. You've been so patient. Go. It's fine." Jessy replied lifting her head from his shoulder. "You know?" Zac asked making his way down the hall. "Yeah hun. I noticed after you told me you love me even though you don't say it all the time that you were... let's say uncomfortable. At first I thought it was because you said the "l" word but I remember back to when you said it all the time and figured out this must be what was wrong." Jessy answered making her way to the bathroom door. "See, I said you were smart. My girl knows when I need to take a leak before me." Zac teased as he opened the door. "Now if you were only so in tune, you would have put the seat down for me so I don't wet myself trying to get my pants down while putting the seat down." Jessy teased back. "Man I better get used to this." Zac sighed turning back and lowering the seat, then turning back to her, "Sorry babe. I love you Jessy." "Oh Zac." Jessy sighed, pecking his cheek then adding, "I love you too. So much." "I'm glad. Meet me back on the couch and you can show me." Zac suggested, pecking her on the forehead before leaving. Jessy rushed, excited over his invitation, racing her way back to the living room. "Where are you? Zac?" Jessy called out. "I'm coming. Just getting something to snack on." Zac replied from the kitchen. "Wait for me. I've got the munchies too." Jessy called back making her way, adding, "What did you find?" "Healthy junk. Salad, fruits.... babe don't you have any food?" Zac answered. "Like this?" Jessy asked opening the cupboard and pulling out a box of noodles. "Nah. You don't have to cook babe. We can go out to eat." Zac answered. "Oh Zac. It'll take what eight minutes and I put the water on. We wouldn't be loaded up in the car that fast." Jessy replied filling a pan with water and putting it on the stovetop, adding, "What else you want?" "I love you babe. You spoil me so." Zac answered wrapping her in his arms. "Zac I love to cook for you. You are so appreciative." Jessy answered with a giggle as he nibbled her neck, adding, "I'm cooking, I'm cooking. Don't eat me." "You're cooing all right." Zac declared picking her up and sitting her on the counter before kissing her passionately. "Who's cooking?" Jessy sighed kissing him back with even more passion. "You're boiling babe." Zac whispered into their kiss noticing the water boiling. "Yeah I am getting warm." Jessy teased before adding, "Oh you mean the pan." Zac helped her prepare a light snack and while eating, "Zac I need to talk to Daddy. Do you mind if we head out there when we're done?" Jessy asked. "Complains we don't spend time alone and then wants my Dad." Zac teased.
