Where's the Love
Part 6
"Now if one of you will set the table." Diana said as the three finished preparing lunch. "I'll do it." Chele said opening cupboards and counting plates. "Good. I didn't look forward to the "Where's the plates? Where the glasses?" Jessy sighed picking up the pile of plates and walking to the table, setting them out. When the two had the table set, "Taylor dear, could you come here please?" Diana called out. "Yeah Mom what did you.. uh... uh..." Taylor said entering the room, losing it when Chele came into view. "See. Uh...Uh." Jessy teased. "I love you too." Chele teased back. "You love who?" Taylor asked. "Sis. I love Sis. Who'd you think I loved?" Chele teased. "Noone." Taylor answered embarassed he'd asked. "Oh I love Noone and Sis then." Chele teased turning back to Jessy and giggling. "You're so mean to him." Jessy whispered rolling her eyes. "You wanted something Mom?" Taylor asked making his way to her. "Yes dear. Could you please let everyone know that it is lunch time." Diana asked. "Sure Mom." Taylor said turning and returning to the family room before making his way upstairs. One by one they all appeared except for Zac, "He said he isn't hungry Mom." Taylor reported when he came down the stairs. "Zac not hungry?" Diana sighed looking to her husband. "Talk about mean to him." Chele whispered to Jessy. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come." Jessy said turning and heading to the door. "Oh no you don't." Taylor said wrapping an arm around her as she tried to pass him. "Taylor let me go." Jessy pleaded. "No Jessy. This is not your fault. It's Zac." Taylor insisted. "If I wasn't here, Zac would come down to lunch. See it is my fault." Jessy insisted. "I don't buy it." Taylor argued. "Okay buy this. You owe me Taylor Hanson and I want to go so just let me." Jessy whispered sternfully. "Fine but I think you're making a big mistake Jessy. Go ahead leave if you want. I'll bring Sis home after lunch. See ya." Taylor said shaking his head no before letting her go and walking away. "I'm sorry you feel you have to leave. This is my home too and I'd love it if you'd stay for lunch." Diana asked hugging her, adding, "I'll understand if you feel you can't." "I wish I'd had the chance to get to know you before you had to leave. Please come again someday?" Walker added before hugging her. They followed Taylor's lead and walked away leaving Jessy to decide what to do. After weighing her options, Jessy decided to take control of her life again and headed up the stairs, walking to the door she had seen Zac enter and knocking. "I told you I'm not hungry." Zac grumbled as he opened the door. "I can see why." Jessy said nodding at the candy bar in his hand, adding, "Can I have a bite?" "Uh, sure. Here you can have one of your own." Zac answered heading to the night stand, opening a drawer filled with candy. "Oh my favorite." Jessy squealed reaching in and immediately opening the wrapper, adding, "You know your Mom is going to get mad about us spoiling our appetite. Umm." Jessy moaned taking her first bite. "We just won't tell her. Besides I'm not going down." Zac replied. "Neither am I then." Jessy said making her way to the bed and sitting down. "But." Zac gasped. "But what? I sat on my butt. Here there's plenty of room." Jessy said patting the bed next to her. "Jessy don't you hate me?" Zac asked after just staring at her for a few minutes. "Hate is a pretty ugly thing. I don't want to. Do I gotta?" Jessy answered. "Huh? No. No you don't have to. Jessy?" Zac answered totally shocked by her response. "Yeah Zac." Jessy replied looking up watching the saddness cover his face. "Jessy. Uh. This is so hard." Zac mumbled looking at the floor. "Maybe I can help." Jessy said reaching out and taking his hand in hers, finishing, "Zac I'm sorry my coming here is making you uncomfortable. I really wasn't going to stay. It's just your brother pissed off my sister and I sort of promised him I'd help get them together. It's just your Mom, she's awfully hard to say no to." Jessy shared. "You're sorry." Zac gasped with a look of wonder in his eyes. "Yeah Zac I'm sorry. I'm sorry I make you feel like you have to hide in your own home. I'm sorry I blew this all out of proportion. I mean it's not like I hadn't heard that before. It's just.." Jessy shared feeling such relief as the words left her lips. "No Jessy. I'm the one who's sorry. I never should have said it. I'm so sorry." Zac said with such regret in his voice. "Yeah I know. Your Mom said this was really bothering you." Jessy replied then smiled as Zac took her hand in his. "It should. Man I still can't believe I did this." Zac said lowering his head. "That's what your Mom said, 'It should bother him' and I think she meant it." Jessy shared then giggled. "I'm sure she meant it. I've been in the doghouse ever since I told her what I did." Zac shared. "You told her. Wow. I don't know if I'd admit to it. At least not to my Mom. I mean serious invitation to a lifetime of 'I remember when you' complete with the rolled eyes and the finger shaking." Jessy said imitating a disappointed mother. "Man that's just like Mom." Zac teased and they finally laughed together as he still held her hand. "I know I said I wasn't going down but one candy bar ain't gonna do it and I don't want to wipe out your stash." Jessy said as the laughter stopped, adding, "Besides I know what we're having for lunch, I helped make it." "Got stuck with kitchen duty huh?" Zac asked. "No not really. I didn't mind, I like to cook. Besides it gave me a chance to get to know your Mom. She's pretty awesome Zac." Jessy answered. "Yeah she is." Zac agreed before asking, "So what we having for lunch?" "Come with me and you'll see." Jessy said rising and tugging his hand in her direction. "Hmm not a wimp. You got some serious muscle girl." Zac remarked before pulling against her and they began a tug of war. "Show off." Jessy groaned bracing herself. "You're strong for a girl." Zac moaned. "You chauvinst pig." Jessy moaned pulling with everything she had. "Am not. You are strong and you're a girl." Zac moaned. "Are too." Jessy squealed as she stopped pulling and pushed him catching him by surprise as he tumbled onto the bed. Jessy laughed at the shocked look on his face, "You think it's funny huh?" Zac declared as he reached grabbing her arms and pulling her towards him. "Zac." Jessy squealed as she toppled on top of him. "Jessy." Zac squealed teasingly. "Now you asked for it Drummer Boy." Jessy said pinning his hands to the bed as she loomed above him. "Then I want it." Zac teased rolling them over and pinning Jessy to the bed. As he loomed above her, things changed. Suddenly it wasn't a game. As Zac looked at her his whole demeanor slowly changed. The look in his eyes went from playful, to serious. "Jessy." Zac whispered as he lowered his lips to hers. "Zac." Jessy moaned softly as his soft lips met hers. "Wow." Zac gasped as he rolled onto the bed beside her. "Yeah wow." Jessy sighed as she felt his hand search for hers. Jessy slid her hand towards his and smiled as he laced his fingers in hers. "Jessy?" Zac whispered. "Yeah Zac." Jessy answered rolling on her side smiling at the sight of her hand in his. "I forgot how pretty you are. I guess I've been so preoccupied with the other part of you since I commented on it that I forgot how pretty you are." Zac sighed lifting the hand not holding hers and lightly stroking her cheek. "So you only remembered the boobs huh?" Jessy teased lightly kissing the hand stroking her face. "Who could forget." Zac teased back, adding, "I'd like to get to know the rest of you too." "I'd like to get to know you too." Jessy replied as a big smile covered her face. "What you smiling about?" Zac whispered unable to do anything but smile back at her. "I'm just so happy we got past... um got over.. um..." Jessy said trying to find the right words, finishing with, "I'm just so happy we understand each other better I guess." "I never meant to hurt you." Zac whispered gazing deeply into her blue eyes as he slowly caressed her cheek again. "I know Zac. I knew it when you said what you did." Jessy replied lifting her hand placing it on his hand that was caressing her face, adding, "Zac I'm sorry I let it hurt me. It wasn't you fault I got hurt, I did it not you. I mean for everybody else I blow it off,,,. That's it." "That's what Jessy?" Zac asked as Jessy sat up. "That's it Zac. That's why I let it bother me so." Jessy squealed. "What do you mean? Jessy I don't understand." Zac asked sitting up next to her as she started bouncing with joy. "Zac you matter to me. You have for quite sometime. That's why when you said what you did I didn't just blow it off like I did every guy before you that made the same crass statement. Zac when I blew off what they said, I also blew them off. I mean I literally removed them from my life. I made a mental note of them and knew I would never let them get near me." Jessy explained still bouncing. "I matter?" Zac whispered. "Yeah Zac Hanson you matter to me." Jessy whispered back. "I matter." Zac screamed. "Geez. Man you're loud. I'm not sure if they heard you back home." Jessy teased rubbing her ears as Zac screamed it even louder. "What on earth?" Walker asked from the open doorway. "I matter Dad." Zac answered with the biggest smile on his face. "Of course you do son but why are you screaming it?" Walker asked already knowing the answer. "Because I matter to Jessy Dad." Zac answered taking her hands in his. "Is that true Jessy?" Walker asked already knowing the answer. "Yes it's true, Zac Hanson matters to me." Jessy answered turning to smile at him. When she turned back, Zac was watching her every move, "It's true then." Zac whispered. "Yeah Zac it's true but if you don't get me something else to eat, your candy stash doesn't stand a chance." Jessy whispered back. "Not the stash." Zac squealed, rising and pulling her to her feet, adding, "Let's go eat lunch. Anything left Dad?" "We were about to begin when your screams reached us. They're all waiting on me to say Grace. Now I have one more thing to be thankful for, you two made up." Walker answered guiding the two out of the room and downstairs.
