Like clock work every hour on the hour. At 3am Jessy put her foot down. "Zac I love you but you have to let me sleep. Please." Jessy begged. "What will you give me?" Zac asked "What will it take?" Jessy said. "Say, You go steady with me." Zac asked. "I dunno, going steady with you. hmmm I think I'd love to." Jessy said. "Zac?" Jessy asked. "What?" Zac asked. "I'm so happy I finally met you. You're so much nicer than the other Zac. Better looking too." Jessy said. "What other Zac?" Zac asked. "You know the public Zac that I've loved for so long." Jessy said. "He's just part of me." Zac said. "Call me at 7am?" Jessy asked. "Sure. Come early and I'll have breakfast with you. Just me and you." Zac said. "Zac, you mean Just me and you and Zoe, right." Jessy said. "Yeah sure, how could I forget about her." Zac said. 7am came too soon. Jessy reached for the alarm. "I did it! Yes with a little help from my love." Jessy said jumping up and down on the bed. She headed to the bathroom and had just stepped in the shower when the phone rang. "Zac" Jessy screamed and raced off, "Zac I made it. Thanks for helping. I couldn't have done it without you. Man I feel great." Jessy squealed. "I'd say someone was happy." Zac said. "Zac would you like to come to dinner. Here. Me and You. I'll make your favorite, what is it?" Jessy asked. "Wow only going steady four hours and you're inviting me out. Yes I'd love to come to dinner. I like just about everything. You surprise me." Zac said. "I offered now you eat what I fix and smile." Jessy said. "I'm going to finish my shower and I'm heading your way. See ya." Jessy hung up and showered quickly. She put on her underclothes and headed to the kitchen. Supper. What to fix. Jessy thought looking in the fridge. Lazagna. She grabbed the ground beef and put it on to fry, adding spices. She put a big pot of water on to boil and threw in lazagna noodles. Jessy grated cheeze and quickly threw it together and put it in the fridge to bake when she got home after work. She cleaned up the kitchen and raced upstairs to dress. Jessy put on a pair of hip hugger jeans, a crop top. She put on her work boots and laced her bell bottoms tight so they didn't get caught in the chains of her bike. She packed her backpack, grabbing Mackie's book and wrapping it in tissue paper. She threw a CD player in her bag turned on 3 car garage put on the headset and grabbed a ball cap and made her way to her bike. Jessy flew like the wind. Weaving in and out of traffic. Finally Zac's driveway. Jessy grabbed the key from her pocket and opened the garage door, parked her bike and made her way in the back door. She stopped and untied her bell bottoms and heard Zac tell Zoe he didn't know where she was. Zoe spotted Jessy and squealed she did. Zac turned to see what delighted Zoe, "There you are. I was.." Zac was saying when Jessy rushed and put her lips to his. "I'm sorry if I worried you, I put dinner together so if I have to stay late, I'll still be able to get you dinner ready. Hope you like lazagna." Jessy apologized. "Love it. Now I'm hungry. But first I have something for you." Zac said and handed Jessy a black jewelery ring case. Jessy opened the box, "It belonged to my grandmother, she left one to each of us and I want you to wear mine, you said you'd go steady with me." Zac said. Jessy wiped the tears from her eyes. "Yes I did and I will." Jessy said. "Here let me." Zac said taking the ring from the box and taking Jessy's left hand and slid the ring onto her ring finger. "Don't worry, I'm prepared, Zac took the ring off and put some tape on it to make it smaller. Perfect fit now." Zac said. "I love you." Jessy smiled and kissed him. "What do you want for breakfast?" Jessy asked. "Scrambled eggs, fried potatoes and ham. I'll help." Zac said. "Zac bring Zoe down here while we make breakfast." Jessy asked getting the boiled potatoes and ham from the fridge. "Ham is your job." Jessy told Zac grabbing a knife and and cutting potatoes and sprinkling with spices. Zac got out the frypans and got busy fixing the ham. Jessy turned the oven on to keep the potatoes warm after they had been fryed. Jessy turned on her burner warmed the pay, sprayed it and loaded it with potatoes and fryed, repeating the process until they had all been fryed. Jessy grabbed a bowl and started cracking eggs into it. She got another frypan up warmed it, added milk to the eggs, whisked them, poured it into the two pans. Jessy loaded the toasters with bread. She stirred the eggs. She buttered toast, adding sugar and cinnamon to a half slice cutting it again for Zoe, and placed the rest in the oven to warm. Jessy stirred the eggs again, loaded the toasters and got down plates. Took glasses and silverware to the table and set nine places and had Zac move Zoe back to her spot between Mom and Dad. Jessy poured orange juices and milks as Zac made his way upstairs to tell everyone breakfast was ready. Jessy butter the toast and placed it in the oven, turned off the eggs. She lifted the pans from the oven and grabbed serving spoons and a fork for the ham. As she pulled the toast from the oven and turned it off she heard them coming down the stairs. She loaded plates and handed them out, putting the extra potatoes in a bowl and ham on a platter and placed them and the plate of toast in the middle of the table, filled the coffee cups and grabbed her plate and took her place next to Zac. "Jessie I found my ballet slippers and brought them along, I'll show you what I was talking about the other day." Jessy said. "Great I can't wait to see you dance." she said. "Give me a break, I haven't had them on since, Wow, B.D. Before Divorce. This ought to be very interesting." Jessy laughed. "You survived your night alone quite well." Mom said. "Tay said I'd be just fine and he was right. Except the phone rang every hour on the hour." Jessy said. "I was worried." Zac said. "And I appreciated the company. Thank you." Jessy said kissing him on the cheek. After breakfast was done, they cleaned up the kitchen and Jessie made her way to the family room, reading her story to the kids then sharing her book. "Mommy" Avie went running with the book in her hand.
