The Story Behind Joel Christen:

    Joel grew up in a small Indiana town located in the north central part of the state.  He began playing guitar at age 15 when he realized he was not going to be the next Michael Jordan and decided to hang up his basketball shoes that were two years old but looked brand new (he didn't get alot of P.T. and yes him and the bleachers at Logansport high school still keep in touch from time to time seeing they became such good friends that year).  Joel,  never being one for idle time,  had his mom drive him down to a hole in the wall music store where he bought his first guitar.  It was an entire $60 and to this day he laughs at how badly he got taken on that deal.  You ever heard of a Harmony Guitar,  I didn't think so.

   Joel, self taught, played his way through college and toured the midwestern states with a band called Basement What?  In Fact if you attended any of the fine colleges located in Indiana I'm sure you saw them, because they played them all.  Although the band has broken up many time it always seems to resurface.  In the words of one of Joel's former Girlfriends, "Basement What? will never die, that F***ing band will just keep going and going.  You know, I used to get my hopes up when you would tell me that the band was breaking up, but it would never ever happen. That band will never break up, it will go on for eternity.  Don't ever tell me you guys are breaking up again, because I won't believe you."   I don't know, maybe there's some truth behind all that pent up frustration and anger.  This point must be made in her defense; the anger and frustration towards the band was more than well waranted. On occasion Joel and Dave (Lead  singer of Basement What?) will reunite for a show and rehash all the songs that resulted from their four year relationship as song writers.  Joel has also been sighted playing clubs with good friend and the original of the 16 Basement What? drummers, the one and only, Tom Foust.

   Joel currently lives in Indiaianpolis, Indiana where he works and pursues his music career.
