----These stories are a tribute to all Tapers out there.--

Knocking on the "Division Bell" - Gilmour Company were doing work for the new album in the studio on his boat. They heard a knocking sound but when they checked there was nobody there?! Basically they went back to work. The knocking started again!! Gilmour had two divers with scuba gear go to investigate under the boat. The divers caught two Bootleggers taping !!!? Basically the mics were taping the bottom of the boat sending an amplified knocking sound to the top!!!
Well, they were arrested and thrown in jail for trespassing. Keep in mind 50 tracks were recorded on the boat (only a fraction of that made it to the album).
Arizona April 20th 1975--- The taper prepares his equipment, used tapes and old bateries. The girl sitting in front turned to the guy next to him and said "hey man why don't you catch this dude, he's gonna fall...!! Sure enough some guy in the next aisle was flipping out on acid and was dancing wildly and leaning on the side that had no guard rail. It was 15 feet to the floor. He nearly fell but the drug people took him down to the main floor. They brought him back as Dave sang "And when you loose control...."
HOT SECURITY--- A friend went to tape a show and the security was intense. He decided to put the mics and recorder in his pants (his shorts). Only after the show he found out they did not care about taping equipment but they were looking for knives......that's a tight spot for that equipment....
The Wheelchair--- A Dead-Head friend of mine went to record a different band (forgot the name) and security was intense. Well, somehow they got a wheelchair , strapped the deck under it, threw a blanket over this guy and in they went right past the metal detectors. Just goes to show the determination a taper has!
If you get any TAPER STORIES please send them along (MUNCANJ@YAHOO.COM).....I appreciate what hard work the Taper does to obtain a recording that will be enjoyed for years to come......
