WHAT'S NEW WITH ROGER WATERS?
This is a fairly recent picture of what Roger looks like these days.
News Flash March 17, 1999:
ROGER WATERS WILL TOUR SUMMER OF 1999
I spoke with Mark Fenwick, Roger Waters Manager this morning, and asked him about the rumors regarding Roger Waters touring soon, and if Roger will be recording a new album. I also asked about Roger's new songs which have come out on film soundtracks as well as the new Waters songs covered by other artists.
We spoke at length about many things regarding Roger's present and future activities. He confirmed to me that he is presently booking dates for a tour, and that Roger Waters will indeed be touring the east coast of the United States in July and August of 1999. He also stated that Roger plans a second leg of the tour on west coast of the United States in the Spring of 2000. Stating that dates and venues have not yet been completely confirmed, he will be informing REG as to the tour schedule, dates, times, and venues, when they are more concrete.
In regard to Roger's opera, CA IRA (pronounced sa-ira) to be released later this year, he announced to REG that Roger has written the English libretto for it so that CA IRA will be released in English as well as French. He again emphasized that Roger would not be performing the opera, but he did announce that he is booking performance dates in the United States sometime in the year 2000, as well as Paris, where the opera will probably first be performed. An album of the opera, consisting of orchestra and singers, will be available in both English and French.
He also told me that although a new Roger Waters solo album has been planned, the recording for it has been postponed until some time after the tour and the work for the opera Ca Ira has been completed. He did say however, that Amused To Death would most likely be performed during the tour.
We spoke about Rogers songs Knockin on Heavens Door for the film "Dybbuk of the Holy Apple Field," and Lost Boys Calling for the film "The Legend of the Pianist by the Ocean," as well as his songs "Incarceration of the Flower Children," and "Without Blame" covered by Marianne Faithful, and Ismael Lo.
The complete text of my conversation with Roger's Manager will be published for REG members in the next issue of the REG Newsletter/Magazine. I have also recently interviewed Gerald Scarfe in an exclusive 1 hour interview for our fanclub which will be published in the next issue of REG as well.
Thanks to REG for supplying us with this news! More info later. Anyone copying this announcement please credit it to REG - The International Roger Waters Fan Club.

The Comparison:
Do you have a favorite? Is it Roger? For me it's hard to say. The comparison between Dave and Roger is totally different to me. They have two totally different music styles that when apart are amazing as well as when together. While both styles are brilliant how can you choose the better?
Roger:
To me Pink Floyd with Roger Waters becomes the Roger Waters Band. He definately seems to over power the rest of the band. But is that a bad thing. Two very classic examples of this are "The Final Cut" and "The Wall". Both amazing albums, but both totally Roger. The work he has done with Floyd has helped define who they are.
Even his solo work is brilliant. Does he need Pink Floyd? Amused to Death is one of my favorite albums. It's still Roger, it doesn't change but in the background. Let's face it having Pink Floyd behind you can't hurt. I think Waters has his own set course he is traveling on and it's just the opposite way of Pink Floyd. His musical inspirations and goals come from a different place. Mainly his father!
Dave:
David however is still very much a part of the Pink Floyd. He pretty much runs the show these days. His musical style is right on track with the rest of the band. That is experimental, that's the way it started and that's why it is what it is today. I think he realizes the importance in experimentation.
Although Gilmour wasn't a member back in the beginning he still sites Piper at the Gates of Dawn as one of he favorite albums. Back then everything the Floyd did was an experiment, the lights, the movies, and most importantly the sounds.
My all time favorite album is The Division Bell. Gilmour pretty much did it all that album. Does this make him my favorite member? Oddly enough no. I think the members are as experimental as the music they create and there for I have no favorite member!
- One exciting thing I have heard is that Gilmours been writting and in some interview he stated that he is egar to return to the recording studio!
