My brother Steve wrote these words in late '89 or early '90 just before I moved back East to work for the feds. I set it to music and made this recording in 1990 just before returning to Utah for Christmas where we made a music video out of it featuring my niece and nephew Tiffany and Michael (which I'm gonna try to put up soon). I remixed it to submit it to a songwriting contest in 1996, and that is the version you hear here.
Lyrics:
Help me quick, get me out of this place. Can't stand the pressure and I can't take the pace. I'm running scared and I'm trying to lie low. Wish I could disappear and not leave a trace. Running, jumping, into the Boatland... Help me, man, get me out of here fast! Consciousness fading, you know I won't last. I'm in a jam and I’m out of control. Too many movies, too much rock and roll! I’m in the Boatland on the edge of a cliff. I’m in the Boatland and it’s getting very thick I’m in the Boatland. Give me a break! I’m in the Boatland in the middle of an earthquake! I’m in the Boatland at the end of my rope. I’m in the Boatland and I’m afraid I can’t cope. Here in the Boatland my brain is on fire Take me out of this Boatland, I'm at the end of my wire! Running, jumping, into the Boatland... I'm sitting here on the edge of my seat, Twiddling my fingers, and dragging my feet. Don't wanna bore you or seem insincere, but this has gotta be the weirdest thing that's happened all year. I’m in the Boatland! I’m in the Boatland! In the Boatland! at the end of my rope. In the Boatland! and I’m afraid I can’t cope. I’m in the Boatland! on the edge of a cliff. I’m in the Boatland!and it’s getting very thick. I’m in the Boatland! give me a break. In the Boatland! in the middle of human race!
