Procession in Traditional Four-Part Harmony
This piece was written as an exercise in four-part harmony in a first-year theory class at BYU around 1985-6. It evokes images of a royal procession in my mind. Later, I wrote another piece in the same spirit but using much more modern harmony. When I find a copy of that piece, I will upload it here for comparison purposes. Incidentally, there are a couple of harmonic gaffs in this piece that bother me a little when I hear it now. It would be very simple to fix them, but I'll wait to do it until I can get real horn players to play it.
