Comments:
From this show and the second Anaheim show one gets the impression that U2 seems to be unsatisfied with City of blinding lights as the shows opener. Which has some logic to it. Although it has some Where the streets qualities to it, it kinda lacks the oomph Where the streets have. The live version in particular reminds me of the live version of Hawkmoon 269. Which was used only rarely during the Lovetown tour as an opener. Probably for the same reason. Since Vertigo cannot serve as an opener (just like Beautifull day was a poor opener on the few occasions during the Elevation tour) there is some logic in choosing Love and peace or else instead. It doesn't have the drive we have become accustomed to from previous tour openers it does have some serious oomph City was lacking. The problem is that Love was part of the anti-war mini set so now the whole set gets turned upside down. The anti-war set gets moved forward entirely, To make up for the loss some serious classics near the end of the main set, the help Africa set now closes of the main set. Which isn't bad because the Zoo TV set that ended the main set was lacking in massive classics. An extended Zoo TV set now becomes the 1st encore and the old intro of City and Vertigo now open the 2nd encore. Which makes for a encore heavy show. Clearly this didn't work out for the fab four so they re-arranged the whole thing agin the next night.
