Comments:
Three performances from between the Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree tours. The 30-1-86 show features one unknown song, Woman fish, an early rendition of Trip through your wires and that unescapable cover, Knocking on heaven's door. The second show is another TV show, this time in Belfast and the best of bunch. U2 play what would become their major audience participation tunes, People get ready and Southern man, but what I like most about this show is their musical interleude between People get ready, and Souyjern man. They could have made a grat song with it as basis. The final show is the famous show they played on top of a LA store to shoot for their Where the streets have no name video. They did it without official permission so they were shut down by the LAPD during Pride. Where the streets have no name was played 3 times and very true to the album. The live version as it would become features a whoah like singing before the final chorus while the album version has Bono singing 'were beaten and blown by the wind' as he does now on this performance. The only time Where the streets have no name was played like this. The recording however suffers from a serious lack of bass. Adam is almost absent and Larry can only be heared through his snare drums and cymbals. There are also weird cuts between songs at several points as if the person recording thought the show was over and switched off only to start again when another song was started. This show also has some pops.
