Comments:
An upgrade verion which does not have the digital imperfections which marred my other version of this show. This show marked another setlistbreak. Basically the late 1st leg 1st and 2nd night setlists swap places as New year's day returns to the 1st day setlist. Thus making this the 1st 2nd leg setlist performance. But not yet the dreaded word standard since Gone is not yet played after Kite. This show has Bono improvising over the Desire riff by singing snippets of Hawkmoon 269 and Running to standstill as well. But U2 is not really playing excerpts from these songs.
This show was just after the suicide of dutch rock'n'roll artist/painter/junkie/poser/idiot Herman Brood. Bono dedicates Stuck in a moment and In a little while to him. To those of you who are curious about this Herman Brood, let me tell you this. He had some hits in the Netherlands in the late 70's, made a failed attempt to bring his music to the USA. His excessive druguse caused his downfall, but in the 80's he made a comeback as a sort of famous person and a painter (even though he was colorblind). He still performed, I saw him once live and was not impressed with his and the rest of band attempts to act cool on stage. He still used drugs (I once saw him give an interview totally stoned), so in the end it was probably to much and he jumped of the roof of an Amsterdam hotel.
