13-10-00, Paris ManRay Club. Sound Quality: Very good audience. Taken from MP3 files from Napster Comments: This gig, probably the first one showcasing the new songs is great. U2 were really kicking in the promotional gear for ATYCLB. Besides making great advertisement it also gives us a sneak peak how some of the new songs will turn out live. It also insures that when U2 does go on tour their early shows won't sound as sloppy and incoherent as the early Popmart shows did. It would appear from this show and others that Elevation will act as showopener. This song's live version is a great improvement over the studio version with a slight change to the major guitar riff. New York gets a guitar solo live like Mysterious ways did (Mysterious ways seems to have gotten a slight change to the intro). Stuck in a moment appears to have little changes as does Beautifull day. The songs are still very new to U2 and twice they have to begin again. Salman Rushdies The ground beneath her feet is played acoustically (A shame that that song did not appear on the European release of ATYCLB). The overal sound is very relaxed has aGarage feel to it. This recording comes very close in feel to the early U2 live shows as they would have sounded. Larry's drums can be heared even without a PA. |
