Tomb of Gods started up in November 92 at Figueira da Foz, Portugal, under very crude conditions. Since then we’ve been constantly trying to improve our music, our technicality and live performances.

Only in May 96 did we join 4 tracks and recorded our first demo-tape "The Beginning". Although our flaw performance and several production limitation, this experience was very elucidative, helping us to clarify our sound and become better musicians. We received some good critics from radios and fanzines, which strongly motivated us and we participated in two compilations, High Radiation Vol. 4 (Independence Records) and Nova Independência.

In 97 Márcio joined the band and Tomb of Gods reached the current formation

We pushed ourselves a lot further to prepare the second demo then we did with the first one. The 98’Demo "The Course" was recorded in 27 hours approximately, but we believe that even so it represents a considerable evolution.

We never tried to define our music, but we think that our kind of vocals definitely confines it to Death Metal. Within the genre, bands like Death, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Atheist and others are quite an inspiration, nevertheless our influences are very diversified and we unconsciously retain everything we hear. Whenever appropriate we try to include melodic sequences, not as a cliché but seeking a form of distinction between music’s, an enhancement, maybe a more progressive sonority.

Realising the imperfections of our work we accept it as a challenge, always reaching for consistent, strong and clear compositions.
