Singer/songwriter Jewel and her mother are being sued for $10 million by a former manager who claims she was wrongfully fired, according to Variety. Inga Vainshtein, who represented the now-platinum songstress when she was a homeless coffeehouse performer, filed suit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. She alleges that Jewel Kilcher's mother, Lenedra Carroll, was behind the firing. Jewel's Spirit debuted at #3 this week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, after selling 368,000 copies during its opening week of sales. [Tues., Dec 1, 1998 2:13 PM EST]

Ride With The Devil
Jewel's movie, Ride With The Devil, will be released in spring 1999. She costars with Tobey Maguire (Pleasantville) and Skeet Ulrich (Scream) in this romantic drama set in the Civil War. The film is rated 'R' for graphic war-related violence.

Nominations for Video Music Awards Announced
Jewel has been nominated for three Video Music Awards: Best Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Viewer's Choice. The show will air on September 4, 1997.

Lilith Fair Kicks Off
Jewel will be performing at Lilith Fair. The concert features women artist such as Jewel, The Cardigans, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Indigo Girls, Paula Cole, and Lisa Loeb. Lilith Fair was set up by Sarah McLachlan and starts on July 5, 1997. Click here for more information and dates.

"Foolish Games" will be on the "Batman and Robin" soundtrack. The song will be her next single to be released.
