As the world drags on
it's been too long
and who says what's fair
and why should I care
when all the sounds end
and all the truth bends
when the tears start to flow

when only silence is heard
no one speaks a word
it's you I remember
not a great pretender
when the sun does shine
it's your smile in my mind
when all that's left is to lay low
I feel the brightness of your halo

I can see the silken hair
laughing without a care
dancing in the round
why did you tumble to the ground
I catch a glimpse of your face
but it's only some old tapes
leaving behind something true

an angel with your heart of gold
never fades away into the fold
