BERNA AND ANTIBES:
TWO UNFORGETTABLE CONCERTS
(6 JULY - FESTHALLE / 4 AUGUST - LA PINEDE)
BY ANDREA PIRRONE
Still alive in my mind what happened in Berna (6th July), and in
Antibes (4th August). Maybe the
atmosphere was not like the London shows at Royal Albert Hall (even if
the Antibes show was
really fascinating), but what really means is that the band played more
than two hours of music in
an exciting way.
"Darling Pretty" starts each concerts, then "Walk Of Life", "Imelda",
"The Bug". People listened
to all the new songs in silence, with attention; but only the old songs
by Dire Straits gave the right
emotion to the hearts of the public (above all: Sultans Of Swing, Money
For Nothing, Telegraph
Road, Romeo And Juliet).
What I really appreciated was the rielaboration of Water Of Love
and Calling Elvis.
New and old musicians, near Mark gave a look more friendly than
Dire Straits on the last tour
"On Every Street ´92".
Wonderful version of Rüdiger and Je Suis Désolé
and Guy Fletcher seemed to have a lot of fun
playing the guitar on "Done With Bonaparte".
Real good emotions and nothing else!!
