Neato: The 5 W's
The need-to-know information concerning our band

WHAT: Neato is a Christian alternative/modern rock band. We believe that our sound cannot be readily compared to any one band's sound, but lends heavily to much of what was called 'alternative' music at one time. Some have described our music as containing songwriting elements from both 1960s and 1990s rock. The best way to get an idea of our style is to hear us live. If you live in the Coastal Bend of Texas, then look for our show information on this web site for a show near you.

WHEN: The earliest versions of the band now known as Neato began roughly 1996 with 3 guys from Alice High School: Oscar Vinson, Gary DeReese, and Shane Fling. Although several band members have left and joined since then, Neato has remained a fully-functional musical entity. Its current version is outlined below.

WHERE: Present members of Neato, which are Gary DeReese, Oscar Vinson, and Shane Fling, are from Alice, Texas, a small town approximately 45 miles due west of Corpus Christi, where Justin Lentz and Chris Gregory currently reside. Oscar, Gary, and Shane reside in Kingsville, Texas while attending Texas A&M University - Kingsville, but are back home between semesters. Whlie Chris and Justin Attend College in Corpus Christi.

WHO: Neato has undergone several personnel changes since its beginning. The current member lineup is as follows:

WHY: Neato was started with the intent trying to get a band together, however, it never had any motive other than to have fun playing music. Over the course of time, we feel that we were all convicted to use the band as a method of ministry of God's work in all our lives. We felt convicted to begin to use this band as a means to glorify God and minister to others through our music. Since our "metamorphosis", if you will, several of our older songs have undergone changes in lyrics. This happened out of conviction as well. We feel that doing so was merely an honoring of God's will, and NOT to solely fit any image of holiness. All of our music is original and is written (or rewritten) to be a living testimony of the ways God has moved, torn down and reshaped our lives to be more like HIM.
