Who?

(The) Vessel - Vocals, Guitar
John - Guitar
The Colonel - Bass
Professor Rimschott - Percussion
Bryn - Keyboards

Naturally, this is by no means a complete list of their duties and abilities on either a physical or spiritual level. The Vessel must be quite busy serving as a receptacle for the original David Devant (see below), and the Professor has summarised some of their goals for Melody Maker as, 'I'm not saying we want to frighten people...but we wouldn't mind'.

You can still pick up copies of the singles 'Pimlico' and 'Cookie' in the shops (if you're lucky). 'Miscellaneous' and 'Lie Detector' are available (vinyl only) at gigs and via mail order. There is an album ('Work, Love Life, Miscellaneous') out now. Demos are in the process of being recorded in a new musical direction.
The band have also made a film entitled 'Light on the Surface' (not to be confused with their song of the same title) which includes on the tape the video to 'Cookie', and you may have seen them on The Paramount Channel's 'Asylum'.

David Devant ('the greatest conjurer this country has ever produced') was born David Wighton in London and became the partner of the famous Victorian magician Maskelyne. They performed at St. George's Hall in Langham Place after the demolition of the Egyptian Hall in 1905. He was also the first president of The Magic Circle. His autobiography, My Magic Life, is quickly summarised on the song of the same title (a B-side to 'Pimlico'). David Devant died in the 1940s and can be experienced at and DD&HSW gig. Not only that, he educated fish. More on that later.
