Ollies
In case you don't already know how to do ollies, read this 'cuz it's the basic boarding trick and all. Well, if you're afraid of falling and getting hurt then you might want to try doing a stationary ollie on grass or something like that. :) For a stationary ollie, you basically start off just standing with your backfoot on the furthest back of your deck and your front foot in the middle of the deck. You kinda jam your back foot down on the tail and jump up at the same time....as the back goes down, your front foot starts to slide up towards the front of the deck.....this'll level the deck out under you in the air.... all it is now is landing square on your deck so you don't fall off. This trick really isn't too hard...it's basically depends on your timing. :) Not too hard. Once you've got the stationary one down...try it while riding slowly, and then speed it up. Actually, most of my friends just started without stationary ollies. After you get good at your ollies, you can try all those other wicked tricks that there are.
Oh yea...another tip for doing stationary ollies would be holding onto a fence or something so you won't fall...this'll help you get the timing down without falling on your ass:).
The Backside Ollie
1. First approach the lip using a little more speed than you would for a grind or lipslide.
2. Curve the wall at enough of an angle so that your back is facing the coping.
3. Ollie a little before you reach the coping. Suck up your knees.
4. At the peak of your ollie, guide your front foot and shoulder back toward the ramp.
5. Keep the board under you; aim for transition.
6. Land and ride away. Try this at home.
TRICK TIP
The Backside 180 Heelflip
1. Place your back foot on the back corner of the tail.
2. Your front foot should be just inches below the front truck-your toes slightly over the edge of the board.
3. Use the ball of your foot and your heel when flipping the board.
4. As you pop the tail, turn your body backside.
5. Kick your front foot out and down.
6. Once you've rotated halfway, begin to catch the board with your back foot.
7. When landing, lean forward a bit, because you might still be turning when you land. Don't lean forward too much, though.
HOOK-UPS rocks.
