What Makes GBS So Great?

Okay, well, we've got a few ideas now on what makes GBS so great, but we'd still like to hear from the rest of you! You can e-mail your thoughts to Laurel(gbs4@hotmail.com) or ERin(rnfraser@cyberus.ca)

Fans from all around the world that GBS gives everything to their fans. They write postcards and sign autographs and even come into the chatroom when they can. You can really see how much they love what their doing on the stage or not. Their singing abilities our excellent and plus they are different from so many groups. It makes them so fantastic. You get your money worth. Sometimes you get bored of listening to other group singing but with the guys you just don't. This makes them special.

The songs they sing about NF make us want to move there, so now we are in January of 1998. Anybody want to come ? Just email us at 0627@tct.net. They have the most incredible voices I ever did hear, especially Alan. He sounds so awesome when he sings of love and loss. It makes me melt to know he is such a sensitive romantic. Sean is damn sexy(so is Alan)! His dimples, eyes, body, legs, back, hair, shoulders, smile, etc. Alan's eyes(deep, dark and lustrous), his hair(gorgeous, long, well-kept), body, smile, you name it, he's got it. They are really fun to know(though we don't yet). They get personal with their fans, which is so incredibly classy. How many other bands do you know that go out for drinks with their fans after their show? None I bet? They are down to earth. They love and support their heritage. That is awesome in itself. Good music, Good guys, Good band. What else is there to say?

They are great because if you put their cd on at any type of party everyone will dance. No matter what their age. Everybody loves GREAT BIG SEA they just don't know it!!!!!!!!!!!

These are four guys who, first of all, are major gorgeous, and, second of all, are very proud Newfoundlanders AND Canadians. They have great music that is appealable to people of all ages, and they have excellent talent in their music (vocal and instrumental). They aren't like other bands at all because they interact with their fans more than any other band, singer, actor, etc. They write to as many fans as they can, and they write the postcards THEMSELVES; no secretaries included. They perform "user-friendly" gigs, as Alan might say, and they make sure that their audience is not only enjoying themselves, but safe as well. They don't think of their audience as fans, they think of them as friends. And above all, they are the most kind-hearted, caring, friendly, happy and energetic b'ys you could ever know. They are truely the heart and soul of Newfoundland, as well as angels in my book.

I think that GBS is the best band in the world because their music is happy. I know that sounds kinda cheezy. But I don't care, that's something I truly love about them. When I turn on the radio, usually all I hear is really depressing music.. If not in the tune, in the lyrics. But, GBS-it's happy! Nothing gives me a charge in the morning like Ordinary Day or When I'm Up or End Of The World, or most any of their songs for that matter! Another Great thing is that the b'ys are Canadian. Enough said! And who can forget the fact that they're such wonderful musicians!?! Yah, I'd say that that's probably pretty important, since they're a musical group and all. I just love to watch Séan play that bodhran! Well, those are some of the things that make GBS a great band!

Simply, they are from Newfoundland!!!!!!

In addition to everything everyone else has said, which I feel as well to the depths of my heart, what I like about GBS is that they are a band that plays my type of music and is making it in the world. I've rarely heard my type of music (anything slightly Celtic) on the radio or on TV and I kind of felt left out of the music world. Now, I'm starting to hear it more and more often. I love it. They also turn other people around to this genre. Thanks, Great Big Sea.
