The b'ys started the show off great. Not that I can remember the first song, but it was
really cool. The second song was Ordinary Day, and some in the crowd got up to dance. I
was going to, but I was sitting in a dull section where no one was even moving. They went
through a few more songs, and, as I had bet my mom, Alan made a comment about the
Great One being from Brantford!!!! I almost got up to dance during the Old Black Rum,
but my mom sent me this killer look, and I don't want to be grounded for dancing. But I
didn't care anymore when they played Goin' Up! I started dancing, and got at least some
of my section up! Run Runaway had almost the whole theatre up, except for the dull
people in my section. We went to intermission, where I looked and looked and looked for
people with the friend's badge (where were you?) and failed. I talked to this nice woman
about my UP hat, and that was fun. I was going to go talk to the people with the WE
LUVE GBS banner, but I wasn't leaving an 11 year old alone, and I had expensive stuff
that I couldn't carry around.
The second part got off to a better start. My 11 year old friend and I ran down to the
front, tired of the boring people we were sitting with. I started jumping, and couldn't
stop!!! I now have a sore throat from singing and yelling, and a headache from jumping,
but it was awesome!
Some highlights were when Séan announced that there were some amazingly beautiful
women there. Then he told us he was in love with the "nymph" woman in the blue dress.
The whole audience looked up at the painting on the ceiling, and Alan asked what the
Devil was doing up there, and Séan said that it isn't the Devil, it's Wayne Gretzky. This
got Alan all riled up! "Don't say things like that about the Great One!" he said, stricken
that Séan would say something like that about Wayne. "That man could buy us over, and
over, and over, and over..." he continued! They decided to play another song, and just
before they started Séan said "I think I'm in love!".
They started to play this song that wasn't theirs, but no one could quite place it. "I love
this, there must be a million songs that start this way" Alan commented, and said about
two words when the audience took over. The song was The Summer Of '69, and
awesome!!!!! They were quite surprised when the audience sang, and just played the
music.
Now, Séan had had dental surgery that day. So he said that he had to say hi to the dental
assistant, and this woman a couple of rows over from me screamed. "Wonderful pain
killers" he said many times. They came back for two encores (the first one I can proudly
say I started=) and ended with "Drink 'er up, boys, it's well after ten!". Alan threw his
towel to some girl, and for about 15 minutes afterward, my friend and I tried to get in the
back to see them, but only managed to see Séan and get him to wave at us. Next time will
be when I meet them! --Karina Short
