I saw GBS play with the Chieftains and Sinead O'Connor Tuesday night. I checked out
their web page and was really disappointed to see that they had already played some
shows in my area that if I had known about them, I would not have missed. Tuesday, they
only seemed to play for less than 30 minutes. I couldn't tell you what songs they played,
but every single one of them made me want to get up and dance. My dad really liked
them, too. Talk about universal appeal. Now, if only they and Ms. O'Connor could have
switched sets. Politics aside, her music doesn't really do anything for me, and she played
for so long (hour and a half) that the Chieftains only got to play for less than an hour.
BUT, they did bring GBS out for some playing time at the end. It blows my mind that this
band has a platinum album in Canada and that no one in the States has heard of them.
Yet. --Kate Concannon
