Mayhem Photo Page Mayhem played a very exciting live show at the Whisky in Hollywood during July 1998. There was a head of a cow on a pole onstage and a stage diver threw it in the slam pit where it got kicked around. In Norway cows were an offering to Odin in Viking days. I liked their song Freezing Moon the best. I met them in the afternoon at the Rainbow where I took photos. They were interesting guys.
The background photos are from Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday on November 2nd where they honor dead friends and relatives. They do this by wearing corpspaint, fixing up graves with candles, Merigolds, and objects of the person, alters in honor of the person, singing, dancing, and other things. I took the alter photos in downtown LA on November 2, 1998.
