SMASH HITS/JULY 11 2001
Snogging their dancers, partying hard and trashing hotel rooms with Five. Kian calls the 'Hits to tell us what's really beeen happening on the Westlife tour...
Been busy, Kian? We can hardly keep up!
Really busy! We feel great, though. We've just been all over Asia, down to the Middle East and then to South Africa, which was my favourite place. Now we're in Spain.
What have the fans been like?
Pretty crazy. Asia was a bit messy. They had 3,000 security people and they had to bring in an extra 2,000 on the day of the show. We read stories in the UK papers about fans getting injured and crushed at our gig in Indonesia but that's just not true. The venue was standing-room only and when the fans pushed forward the people at the front got squashed. Security jumped in and quickly pulled them out so nobody was hurt.
What are you missing from home?
The usual - my mum's cooking and silly things like driving my car.
Have you been partying as hard as always? We heard about your crazy night out with Five...
Who us? No way! Actually this tour's been pretty quiet compared to the UK. Well... OK, we did have a hell of a night with Five but don't believe everything you read - we did not do £10,000 worth of damage! We did a show together in Tel Aviv. Then we went to a club and had a few too many drinks. We went back to the hotel and stayed up partying 'til 9am! We went up to the pool and sunbathed there 'til we fell asleep... it was a mad night.
