Updates:
I get all my news from www.a-ha.com, the official a-ha website, and Headlines and Deadlines, now part of the official site!
18 October: See the video for Velvet on a-ha.com and see what you think for yourself!!. By the way, the video has been accepted by the German video channel VIVA, and better yet, they have placed the video on their #1 rotation!
17 October: If you visit the a-ha web diary you can read a firsthand account of the video shoot and see some pictures!
Go here to see the shot of the guys in the morgue.
And if you check out the Headlines and Deadlines Front Page there are a few links to articles covering the video. Apparently, many people don't like it - It's been called "A Brave Choice," "A Cause for Disgust," or "A Necro-Shocker." An excerpt from one article says "We see the three dead a-ha bandmembers: Pål Waaktaar Savoy has been shot in the head, Morten Harket electrocuted by a hairdryer in the bath tub, and Magne Furuholmen is found frozen in a deep-freezer. All murders have been commited by scarcely clad women. In the morgue, the three are being touched, kissed and licked: strong images to the melancholic and beautiful song 'Velvet'." Believe me, you'll have to read them for yourself!!
P.S. Dagbladet, who called the video "A Brave Choice" gives the video a 5 out of 6!
15 October: The guys filmed the video for "Velvet" on October 4th and 5th in Hamburg, Germany. Harald Zwart, a Norwegian Hollywood producer, directed the video. He had just finished a movie with Michael Douglas, Matt Dillon, Liv Tyler called "One Night At McCool's" which features the track "Velvet" in a key scene of the movie.
3 October: a-ha have been collecting awards for their latest release, "Minor Earth | Major Sky". At the German VIVA COMET awards, a-ha won the "Comeback of the Year" award, and stirred the audience performing "Summer Moved On" during the awards ceremony.
And at the Norwegian HitAwards, a-ha won the "Hit of the Year" award for "Summer Moved On", and were nominated in several other categories.
3 October: I recently received a letter from World Phonecards showcasing a new very limited A-ha phonecard. I believe the site says that there are only 150 available, and the cost is 15 Pounds.
See it at http://www.world-phonecards.com/acatalog/Catalogue_Main_Page_A_ha_Phonecard_24.html
20 September: In addition to the single edit (and possibly the album edit of "Velvet") the upcoming "Velvet" single coming to record stores in November will have these remixes:
De Phazz Mix
Millenia Nova Mix (The same remixers as the "ME-MS" single)
New York City Mix (by John Agnello)
The Alabaster Mix
The Stockholm Mix
20 September: a-ha have added an additional date to the "Minor Earth | Major Sky" tour in Germany. The new date is in Braunschweig at the new VW Halle on the 1st of December.
Tickets for the new date should be available now.
18 September: Later this month, Warner Germany will release to radio the next single from "Minor Earth Major Sky", "Velvet" for airplay. (It will start in Germany first, then spread to other countries, except Norway.) There will also be a treat on the CD cover, the "background" was designed by Mags. Currently there is no date set for a release to record stores. Warner Norway will instead release "The Sun Never Shone That Day" to Norwegian radio as a-ha's new single there, and it will be a radio-only release.
We are happy to announce that Reamonn will be supporting a-ha at all of their upcoming concert dates in Germany this November. For those that may be unfamiliar with Reamonn, they released their first album "Tuesday" in May of this year, which was a Top 10 hit in Germany with the single "Supergirl". Their current single is "Josephine".
4 September: Congratulations to Mags, Paul and Morten! Although it has been the biggest hit for a-ha (so far), it had never reached #1 in the U.K. (it had risen to #2), but now it's rocketed up the charts with a cover version by A1! A great song is a great song - and this week's charts are just another proof.
Later this month, Warner Germany will be releasing to European radio the next single from "Minor Earth Major Sky", "Velvet" for airplay. There will also be a treat on the CD cover, the "background" was designed by Mags. Currently there is no date set for a release to record stores.
1 September: Yes, we've moved. I finally got an easier url to remember, for you as well as me. :) I think everything is up and working, be sure to tell me if it's not.

22 August: CNN's "WorldBeat" program focused on Nordic Music last weekend, and one of the segments was on the "much-anticipated return of a-ha". "WorldBeat" is a great show, broadcast worldwide by CNN and CNN International. Unfortunately, the one week I miss it... I've been watching since ME-MS came out in case the guys would be on. Boy, am I kicking myself for not only missing it this once, but also not checking the offical site - they mentioned it last Thursday!
a-ha lovers have visited my website since 23 August 2000. (6434 before that.)
