Definately Maybe
Oasis's debut album, possibly the greatest debut album ever. It is not the best album but it is brilliant. It starts off with the song "Rock N' Roll Star", it's not my favourite song but it's a great song none the less. The next song "Shakermaker" is not the greatest yet they released it as a single. Go figure. Noel called a big mix of nothing. Then there is "Live Forever" possiblly the Best song on this album, its absolutely brilliant. Noel wrote it about his mother, Awww. It was the 3rd single and on the cover was a picture of John Lennon's Aunt Mimi's house. Next is "Up in the Sky" a cool song but i like it better when Noel does this acoustic with a slide but it stills sounds great. Then there is "Columbia" which Liam claims he wrote the chorus. It started out as a instrumental that they played in concerts but eventually Noel added lyrics to it. Another good song with a long solo provided by Noel at the end. Then ther is "Supersonic" the first single which Noel called his I am the Walrus, It is another great song with lines like "I know a girl called Elsa she's into to Alka Seltzer" about a friends dog who would fart a lot and Noel said does she eat Alka Seltzer? Following Supersonic is "Bring It On Down" similar to Columbia in some ways. It's a cool song. Then there is "Cigarettes and Alcohol" the 4th single with I am the Walrus as a b-side. It's a pretty cool song, not my favourite. Rod Stewert covered it on his latest album. Then there is "Digsy's Diner", it sounds more like a b-side. I think they should have but on Take Me Away on instead of this song but oh well. Then there is "Slide Away", it was not released though I think it should have been. Noel doesn't like to write personnel songs and this one was that may explain why he didn't release it. Then there is "Married With Children" a slow song, it definately sounds like a last song.
So what's my final say on this album? Well it's a great album but if you don't own any Oasis albums don't get this one first.
My Rating: B
