Sgt. Pepper's band
Afonso Pena com Abbey Road

The Sgt. Pepper's Band is one of the best cover bands in the world. They have become know for their amazing fidelity to the Beatles recordings. Their sound is really amazingly good!

In 1996 they have released a wonderful CD called "Come and get it", in which they performed unreleased songs by Lennon-McCartney. Many of the songs on that CD are very hard to find in their original versions, like "Woman", "I don't wanna see you again", etc. Their very serious approach made the Sgt. Pepper's na international reference.

Now they come with their second CD, "Afonso Pena com Abbey Road". Most of the songs have been released on "Anthology", hence they have tried to make new arrengements. Afonso Pena is the mains avenue in Belo Horizonte, the city where the band (and myself... :o)) come from.

The highlights are the beautiful version to "You know what to do", "Sour mil sea", and, of course, "Tip of my tongue", a song which has always frightned cover bands, because it's not exactly the best Lennon-McCartney number. But this Sgt. Peppers version will possibly remain as the ultimate one.

SONG LIST:

Tip of my tongue
I'll keep you satisfied
You know what to do
Step inside love
Like dreamers do
If you've got troubles
In spite of all the danger
Hello little girl
Love of the loved
Sour milk sea
Two wars (Aggeu Marques - Gauguin)
