Lab Safety

Here are some BASIC rules to follow while in the chemistry lab:

1. When working in the laboratory, you should perform only those activities assigned by your teacher.

2. Carefully follow all instructions, both written and oral.

3. Wear safety goggles and a lab apron at all times in the lab.

4. Keep you hair, clothing, and all other flammable materials away from open flames.

5. Clean up all spills immediatly.

6. When you are finished with a lab, always wash your hands.

7. Never wear sandals to the lab.

8. When heating something in a test tube, point the test tube away from people.

9. When mixing acids and water, always add acid to water.

10. NEVER fool around in the lab.
