FavoritesThe question was: "What's your favorite song from 'Whatever'?", and here are the results:
(It's Good) To Be Free - 10 Between Oasis' first album "Definitely Maybe" and the second one "(WTS)MG?" there was a pretty long break. In that break Oasis had one release, the "Whatever" single. Whatever is a song which hasn't appeared on any Oasis album but only came out on a single. That's why the song, and the b-sides are quite rare. There are some versions of the Definitely Maybe album with the single attached. Anyway, the winning b-side on this single is "(It's Good) To Be Free", a great typical Oasis song. Note that both this song and Whatever are talking about being yourself and free from doing what other people tell you to. |
Opinion PollThe question was: "What's the worst Oasis song ever?", and here are the results:
Rockin' Chair - 3 Of all of Oasis' perfect songs, there are some which are a bit less, like most of the song on the list above. You'll notice that most of them are b-sides as well. The worst ones according to you are "Rockin' Chair" and "Cloudburst", which are maybe two songs that never should have been written... |
FavoritesThe question was: "What's your favorite song from 'Cigarettes and Alchohol'?", and here are the results:
I Am the Walrus (Live) - 10 It was a tough battle between the three excellent b-sides found on the Cigarettes and Alchohol single. All three of those songs are amazing songs and that's why it was hard for you to pick. But of the three, a live Beatles cover prevailed. "I Am the Walrus", an excellent song and a good pick by the band to do a cover for. Although the song is a bit too long at the end, it has a wonderful rock feel to it, and it shows great with Liam's voice. Listen Up is considered to be one of the best Noel-written b-sides and Fade Away is also coming out on a "Warchild Version" on the Japanese Don't Go Away single. |
Opinion PollThe question was: "Will Oasis perform another unplugged concert for MTV?", and here are the results:
Yes - 11 If MTV comes up to you asking you to do an unplugged concert for them it is considered a big honor. That's just what happened to Oasis a couple of years ago. They worked on it and looked forward to performing it, but when the time came for the gig, Liam bailed out because of a bad throat. Some say it was just an exuse, some believe him, and most people don't care, because Noel did a great job filling in for his brother and the concert came out great. However, Noel, being pissed off because of the whole story, cursed the whole show, and MTV decided not to broadcast the show. The only people who got to hear the acoustic songs were the people who came to the Chicago gig and people who got themselves the bootleg. Most of the voters this week think that Oasis will do another MTV Unplugged, with or without Liam. We all hope they would, because Oasis acoustic is a beautiful thing. |
FavoritesThe question was: "What's your favorite song from 'Live Forever'?", and here are the results:
Up in the Sky (Acoustic) - 9 Arguably the best Oasis song ever, Live Forever, was Oasis' third and final single before the Definitely Maybe album came out. Its b-sides are okay, only one of them was a new song. The winning one is the acoustic version of Up in the Sky. The thing I like most about it is the slide Noel uses on his guitar. It makes the song very special. In second came a great live version of Supersonic and in last is one of (I think) the worst Oasis songs, Cloudburst. I tried to, but I just can't connect to it. |
Opinion PollThe question was: "What will be the highest chart position for "Don't Go Away"?", and here are the results:
3 to 1 - 7 When I first put this question on a week ago everyone thought that Don't Go Away will be a Europe single, and so I asked a question regarding the European sales charts. However, since the single will come out in Japan only, I don't know when we can get the answer. Most people guessed that the single will reach one of the top three spots, just like all of Be Here Now's singles reached. The single will have great b-sides as well, including Sad Song which was very rare up until now. |
FavoritesThe question was: "What's your favorite song from 'Shakermaker'?", and here are the results:
D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman? - 8 The Shakermaker single probably should have never come out. Although it reached number 11 on the charts, most Oasis fans would probably agree that this is the worst song of Definitely Maybe. However, its b-sides are excellent, and the best one of them is with no doubt "D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman?", a typical, acoustic Noel-song. There are two guitars in it and also some backing vocals. The lyrics are excellent and meaningful, talking about how you have a childhood dream, like being a spaceman, and that when you grow up the only thing that you are interested in is money and you don't care about your dream anymore. Be yourselves! |
Opinion PollThe question was: "What's the most meaningful Oasis song lyrics?", and here are the results:
The Masterplan - 5 I remember watching the Oasis "All Around the World" gig on MTV some time ago. Before the show, Noel was interviewed, and one of the questions had to do with Oasis lyrics. Noel said that the three most important lyrics he ever wrote were Rock 'N' Roll Star, Live Forever, and Wonderwall. Rock 'N' Roll Star talks about life in the city, and just living. Live Forever talks about the relasionship between two best friends. Wonderwall, talks about love. And then he said, "What more is there to write about?" So although Live Forever made it to 2nd place on the "most meaningful Oasis lyrics" list, "the Masterplan" is the one you picked. The lyrics, especially the last verse, are not just meaningful, but also beautiful, and the music isn't bad at all either. |
