The question was: "What's your favorite song from 'Don't Go Away'?", and here are the results:

Sad Song - 7
Fade Away (Warchild Version) - 4
Cigarettes and Alcohol (Live) - 1

"Don't Go Away" was a Japan only single release. It did not come out as a UK single. In Japan it sold well, like all of the earlier Japan singles. The thing that is special about this perticular single is that it does not include any new songs. It includes three different versions to songs, but does not present any new composition. "Sad Song", the winning b-side, was already featured on vinyl versions of the Definitely Maybe album as a live Noel acoustic version. "Fade Away" is a 'Warchild' version, which means that the money it brings in will be donated for charity. It was already a b-side on the Cigarettes and Alcohol single. And last, there is a live version of "Cigarettes and Alcohol", a song that was on Definitely Maybe.

Opinion Poll

The question was: "Which team will win the 1998 World Cup in France?", and here are the results:

Brazil - 4
England - 3
Holland - 2
France - 2
Italy - 1
USA - 1
Croatia - 1

Okay, okay, I know that this week's question was quite irrelevant of Oasis, but I sort of ran out of questions. Besides, the World Cup is very talked about these days and Noel and Liam are huge soccer fans. It's pretty clear that most of you believe Brazil will take it, but you have to remember that England, Holland, and France also have a very good chance. Please e-mail me suggestions for questions to ask, I really need it.

The question was: "What's your favorite song from 'All Around the World'?", and here are the results:

Flashbax - 13
Street Fighting Man - 1
The Fame - 1

The results to this week's question are amazing: Everyone, except for 2 people chose "Flashbax" as the best "All Around the World" b-side! The song features vocals by Noel, but it is definitely not acoustic. It's another great electric song with a good beat that you can listen to over and over. Flashbax has won a lot of populatrity once it came out along with "the Fame", a song also sung by Noel that is similar to "I Hope, I Think, I Know", and "Street Fighting Man", a David Bowie cover in which Liam performs great vocal abilities. The title song, All Around the World, is longer in time than the album version, simply because the fade-out is longer.

Opinion Poll

The question was: "On future albums, should Oasis stick to having long songs like in 'Be Here Now'?", and here are the results:

Shorter songs are better - 5
I haven't even noticed the change - 3
The long songs are the best - 2
The songs should be even longer - 2

The first two Oasis albums basically have short songs, an average of about 4 minutes. In the third one though, Oasis began making the songs longer, and we soon heard songs that take over 6 minutes. "All Around the World" for example, is a long epic taking up a total of 9:19, the longest Oasis track ever. Most of you think that the shorter songs are better than BHN's long ones, while only 3 believe the long ones are the best. With longer songs, Oasis get a chance to show off their musical abitilies at a wider space. This means more solos and musical interludes, longer intos and interesting endings. However, shorter songs could be considered better since it's straight to the point and does not begin to bore as quickly.

The question was: "What's your favorite song from 'Stand By Me'?", and here are the results:

Going Nowhere - 10
(I Got) The Fever - 7
My Sister Lover - 3

No doubt that Stand By Me is one of the best Oasis singles. It has three great b-sides and a huge international hit title song. Also, Stand By Me features a very interesting partly-acoustic song, which by the way you picked as the best one: "Going Nowhere". This track is sung by Noel and has some horn work on it, as well as violins and other orchestral instruments. It really is a beautiful song, with a little piano solo followed by a great guitar solo. It's very unlike the other two songs that pretty much blow your ears off. Two typical Oasis b-sides that give you that rock feeling in your heart: "My Sister Lover" and "(I Got) The Fever".

Opinion Poll

The question was: "If Oasis ever split, will Noel go solo?", and here are the results:

Yes - 17
No - 3

The end of the interview CD that came with the Definitely Maybe singles box set, ends with Noel saying that the band members are the best mates in the world and that he can never picture himself on a band that's not Oasis. However, there's a possiblity that he will be a solo artist once Oasis are through being Oasis. He's already done the first step towards that by recording a song by himself for the upcoming X-Files movie soundtrack, "Teotihuacan". Then again, Oasis still have a long way to go. Noel just wrote 13 new songs. So in the end, we'll see if most of you were right, saying that Noel will also have a solo career.
