Hello. First of all, I want to thank you for visiting my page. I hope you like it, and don't worry--as new music hits the market, I'll try to get the lyrics onto my page. Lately I haven't added much to the database (I've been very busy), but I hope to add more in the coming months. The real intent behind this page is for visitors to find all the lyrics they want on ONE page. No search engines or anything along those lines! I figure, you must've used a search engine to find the page, so making you search again would be ludicrous.
Hmm, what would anybody ever want to know about me? Well, my name is Dan, I'm 18 years old, and I live in (WARNING: intended REM allusion) So. Central Pennsylvania (in the US, for all of you who happen to view this page from overseas!). Now, I'm currently residing in Ithaca, NY, where I go to school. I enjoy a lot of different things, but mainly music and computers are my two main areas of interest. Music is what keeps me running. I could not live without it. It's like oxygen. I play piano/keyboard, saxophone, and I'd like to learn to play guitar. I also listen to a hell of a lot of music that I'll discuss later.
Well, on to the topic of computers. This year I'm a freshman in college, and I intend to major in computer science. I might major in mathematics, haven't decided yet. I'm going to Ithaca College (IC), in Ithaca, NY. I'm a DJ for their radio station (WICB); it's awesome! In fact, WICB has been one of the top college radio stations in the country for the past five years! If you want to see a picture of me go to this page and click where it says "DJs". Look for Dan. My actual airname is Dan-O, by the way.
Back to music, because I feel it is the most important part of my life. In terms of the music I listen to, I'm a weirdo (and a creep, I must say!). I have a variety of musical tastes, but my current obsession lies in the British isles. American music seems to be getting stale--though there are exceptions such as: The Apples in Stereo, Flick, Sense Field, Live, Letters to Cleo, Toad the Wet Sprocket, REM, Remy Zero, Pavement, Fountains of Wayne, Elliott Smith, Madder Rose, Better Than Ezra, The Innocence Mission, The Ocean Blue, The Dandy Warhols, The Gufs, Ivy, and some others. Anyway, my favorite band is BELLE & SEBASTIAN, an 8-piece folk-pop octet from Scotland. They are simply amazing--and like nothing else I'd ever heard before; imagine the pop music of the early 60's combined with the witty lyricism of Morrissey. My second favorite band (former #1) is Radiohead--they're also very amazing. Great big swooping guitar harmonies. Fabulous. Other bands from the Isles that I frequently listen to include: Suede, Blur, Teenage Fanclub, Arnold, The Wonder Stuff, Mansun, The La's, Manic Street Preachers, Gene, Pulp, The Frank & Walters, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Saint Etienne, Unbelievable Truth, Stereolab, The Bluetones, Divine Comedy, Tindersticks, Marion, Supergrass, Trash Can Sinatras, Looper, The Gentle Waves (or whatever you sinister people want to call them, Longpigs, and a bunch of others.
NEW BAND OF THE MONTH: The latest up-and-coming band in America is a band called Jimmy Eat World. They have a new album out called CLARITY, and it has been receiving quite a bit of airplay on college radio stations around the country. Not only is the band easy to make fun of due to their name, they also have some of the best melodies around. Combine that with their eccentric emo lyrics, and, well, they rock! It is my prediction that by the end of 1999, this band will be known across the United States.
Well, if there's anything else you want to know about me, feel free to drop me an email. Any suggestions that you can offer me on how to improve the page would be greatly appreciated, and don't forget to sign my guestbook!
Dan ("Polystyreneman")
