Mailing Procedure (USA to United Kingdom)
The following tips are for traders who are unsure of the procedure of sending tapes to the UK.
Mailing Tips :
Once the tapes are all done, stick them to each other in a flat configuration with *removable* sticky tape and put them in the envelope/box
Preferably, don't pack more than 8 tapes at once in a layer as more tend to be damaged more easily - maximum 16 tapes in two layers
Put your letter, set lists, whatever in with the tapes (WITHOUT CASES PLEASE UNLESS AGREED) and seal the mailer....please use parcel tape and/or staples to be sure....the postal services really throw them around !
Write the words "SMALL PACKET" prominently and in large letters on the top of the parcel
At the post office get a green customs form and write on it "AUDIO TAPES x 6" (or however many)...DO NOT write "plus letter" or "plus setlists" or anything like that. DO NOT mention any letters inside as they will charge LETTER rate which is A LOT more expensive
Mark the customs form as a GIFT and fill in the value and weight
Stick the customs form onto the front of the parcel as well as an AIR MAIL sticker
Overall Trading Policy
I am VERY flexible in my trading arrangements. The only two things I stress are the use of type II tapes (Maxell XL II or TDK SA - I actually prefer TDK SA), and NO Dolby NR when dubbing.
