• This is an old news, but I haven't heard about it before and I guess beside the British fans hardly anyone knows that Saffron and Fast split quite some time ago, probably in May of this year. I'm not sure, but Saffron probably has got a new boyfriend already. If anybody has got more infos, please feel free to write me! Thanks!
• There's a nice pic of Saffron with a new companion in this week's issue of Hello magazine. It was taken at the recent GQ Men Of The Year Awards at the new Home Club in London.
  Saffron was also briefly interviewed last Sunday at the opening night of the same venue on TV's C4 program "Exclusive". Thanks to Dukester2 for this info!

Latest news at Sunday, 2nd May, 1999

• Like some of you might already know are Republica currently in the studios recording new songs for the US release of 'Speed Ballads'. According to Tim Dorney the band's also working on prospective tracks for the next album.
  Ross Mantle kindly forwarded me an e-mail from Tom who's quite officially trying to run a Republica fan club. In this e-mail is stated that this "new material should hit your earwaves by the year's end". But there's also something written about new songs being released in summer. Maybe 'Speed Ballads' will be released in the USA then and the new album will come at the end of the year.
• As for tours, Republica are playing several university balls as well as some European festivals. At the moment I only know that they're playing at the Balelec Festival in Lausanne on 21st May and at the Gurten Festival in Bern on 17th July (both Switzerland. Finally!!!).
  The band was supposed to play a few European gigs in the beginning of the year, but their record company cancelled them and sent the group back into the studio. "We were really pissed" (Tim Dorney).
  I should receive more detailed tour dates soon.
• There's been a rumour that Pete Riley had left Republica. That's definitely not true. He isn't a full member, but he surely has not left the band.
• Also from Ross' forwarded e-mail is this information... the stock of Republica merchandise is sold out and there are no plans for another run. But with the release of new songs in summer will probably also come new merchandise articles!
