All You Ever Wanted To Know
(but were afraid to ask)

The Throe Down (or just plain Throe Down) is not to be confused with Orange County's Throwdown (merely a homophonal coincidence...not an homage or shit like that). The genesis of the name is quite simply defined in the music. It is designed to create spasmodic feelings in our audience...or just to those that actually have the balls to stand and move their bodies during shows (fuck all the chin-scratching chair-sitters!). A Throe Down is an event. Surrender yourself to it!

Destruction of musical norms is our goal. We do not create songs that appeal to the mass population. We create songs that appeal to those that appreciate the idea of FEELING inherent in music. Yes, FEELING. Those looking for "emo" type feelings, best look elsewhere...we are the antithesis of "emo". Feelings of chaos and confusion is what you'll most likely get from our music. Improvisation is also a big part of our schtick, but we aren't sissy "jam band" bullshit improv (ahem...Phish...Widespread Panic...Dave Matthews...blah blah puke). We also don't just use improvisation as an excuse not to write songs (fear of inadequacy) or practice (laziness).

The Throe Down is first and foremost a band that absolutely MUST be experienced in a live setting. Preferrably in a setting of a group of like-minded people who understand what we are trying to achieve (haven't found too many of those type of people in the Murfreesboro area...hopefully some people here will prove me wrong). Live shows are marked with intensity and energy. No two shows are alike. Go to them or regret it for the remainder of your existence!

Stimulusaurus - Mr. Stimulusaurus is the lead vocalist. He is more accurately described as being the vokillist. The sounds created via his set up are not recognizable as the typical sounds one would expect from a human voice. It is something completely alien. Stimulusaurus is a native of Washington, DC.


Jay Korber - Mr. Korber plays his bass and drums (switches between the two) with ferocious intensity. Jay has always admired musicians who are/were able to push their instruments to unknown levels...to absolutely squeeze the fucking life out of them. Jay is a native of Pittsburgh, PA.


Ryan Schwartz - Mr. Schwartz has been pounding his drums for more than half his life and still continues to show improvement with each passing day. His frantic drumbeats have the ability to throw you into a frenzy! He can also get some amazing sounds to come out of a bass. Ryan is also a native of Pittsburgh, PA.


Pensil - Mr. Pensil adds a new dimension to the Throe Down mystique. His guitar de-construction skills as well as his unique musical talents with tire irons and movie projectors will leave your feeble mind reeling! Pensil is a native of ancient Greece.


Angelo - Mr. Angelo provides the explosive kick in the teeth sounds of the electric tuba! Also handy with trombone and trumpet. Angelo is a native of Aboriginal Australia.
