If You Want to Know the Truth

If you want to know the truth,
You scorch me,
Like the winter wind upon my lips.
What you say,
It makes no sense.
Your words pull to the sun,
But your actions to the stars.

But I think it was once different;
I remember using your words as a blanket to cuddle in.
I remember believing you knew what those words meant.
My thoughts danced with yours.
I drank your words,
And it felt like ginger ale on the back of my tongue.
But now that tingling is gone.

So the truth is,
There was a time, I think, when we were together.
It wasn’t merely a dream,
Conjured somewhere in your now warped mind.
But now my truth isn’t yours,
And I’m not so sure you can see it anymore.
It must be lost along with a friend I once knew
