Well I can't think of one Oasis page which features something like this. It's my chance to vent my frustration with really crappy bands. You may think you don't care about my opinions but if you don't then why are you reading this? The good news is I'm a very open-minded person and I like well-expressed, thoughtful arguements so please feel free to E-mail any of your comments to me. I'll scan through it before hand so anything with vulgarity or the words, 'You suck!' in it will not even be read all the way through. So with that out of the way, it's time to band slam!
Bush
Keeping Whining Alive
I've heard a lot of flack about how much Oasis wants to be like the Beatles and what not. But why is it so many people think Bush is a great, original band? This band is a cheap copy of Nirvana, plain and simple. Nothing great, nothing innovative. Gavin Rossdale tries a bit to hard to be like Kurt Cobain. Yet they've fooled millions into thinking they're a great band. In a recent reader's poll by Circus Magazine, they were voted, best band and are expected to be even bigger this year. Gavin was given best male vocalist for a voice that isn't really his own and the drummer and bassist were also 'honored' by the 14 year-olds who read Circus. This only proves a point to me that I've always felt: Circus magazine blows.
Well it's said that Gavin is a looker. Who knows, maybe to all those dreamy-eyed middle school girls, as well as Gwen Stefani, he is. Boy George obviously thought so because in his soon-to-be released auto-biography he talks about his love affair with a teenage Gavin. Gavin begged and pleaded to have that part removed but all Boy George did was take out the pictures of he and Gavin. I now realize I was wrong about what I said earlier, Kurt would have never gone out with Boy George.
The Sex Pistols
Filthy Lucre Tour?.......more like the Really Lousy Tour
Too bad I couldn't see these guys when they first toured the U.S. (and the only time they toured the U.S. with Sid Viscious). Then again I was only 1 year old. I hear these guys use to have an edge on stage that other bands didn't have. The kind of edge that showed on their album, 'Nevermind the Bollocks, Here Come the Sex Pistols'and it was this album that became the blueprint for all punk bands that followed. One of the things that made this band great and important was that they were against the hyped, commercialized glamour rock that was dominating the charts at the time. So some 20 years later have things changed? Must have, because the ultimate punk band has come out and said, 'We want your money!' and that's the basis for the Filthy Lucre tour. However I have to give these guys the benefit of a doubt because current punk bands have reaped millions on the concepts and chaos made possible by the Pistols. Makes one wonder if Sid would have liked it this way.
More slams to come soon! Do you have something to add? Then E-mail me at denton@hotmail.comand I'll consider using it.
