News for February 13, 1998
- James Iha's new album Let it Come Down has been receiving frequent air time on the local alternative radio station 102.1 The Edge in the Toronto. For the most part, it seems as though the overall reaction to the first single "Be Strong Now" has been quite positive.
- Look for the new Smashing Pumkins album to be out near the end of May 1998. The Edge reported that a possible release date was May 24, although nothing is for sure. Apparently, about 50% of the material on the new disc is electronic- influenced. Anticipate something similar to the tracks "Eye" and "The End is the Beginning is the End". Corgan has been quoted as describing the new songs as "Arcane Night Music", whatever that is, we'll have to wait and see.
- As well, the report out of Pumpkinland is that the band has "stolen" Beck's drummer. Whether it is a permanent move or not, Corgan must have done some super negotiating to pull the drummer away from a success like Beck. In any case, Beck has not responded to this news positively. You may know that The Pumpkins had Soundgarden's former drummer filling in recently after Matt Walker took off for professional reasons.
