First off, we apoplogize for the delay for Smashing Pumpkins news for the past few weeks. The truth is, the SP camp has been kind of quiet. Today, however, is HUGE!
The Pumpkins are finishing up the recording and mixing for their next album entitled Adore. While Billy Corgan has described the disc as "arcane night music" nobody really knows what to expect. All that can be said is that the music is closer to tunes likes "1979" and "Thirty-Three" rather than hard-rock. In any case, it is definitely a reason to be optimistic for Pumpkinheads. We've been awaiting "new" material for a while, and not just from the Pumpkins, from all of the music world. Some of the song titles are "Ava Adore", "Perfect", "Let me Give the World to You" and "To Sheila". Look for the first single release around the end of March or beginning of April.
The REALLY BIG NEWS is not regarding the new album. It's regarding the events that will occur in the post-Adore era. Word from the recording studio is that Adore is like a filler between now and their huge upcoming release in 1999. The material for the 1999 album is supposed to be revolutionary. One of the album producers, Cliff Burnstein, said, "Billy is going for the whole f------ world, man...It's going to be the greatest f------ rock album anyone's ever heard."
