Mark Hodgkinson is that you; the young hack from the MIDDLETON GUARDIAN years ago,whatever happened to your band "THE MONKEY RUN ?" If I remember correctly you had one excellent song, something like "Give me the blood of a civil servant." This website would be brilliant if you actually took the trouble to update it, incidentally the Chameleons have reformed and played some incredible gigs at the Witchwood in Ashton U lyne.

Good to see a decent Chams site - especially like the message board. What's this about a May 2000 acoustic album and reunion gigs at the Witchwood? If anyone's got any more on this please let us all know...it all sounds too good to be true! I only saw the Chameleons once but I caught The Sun and the Moon several times, as well as Mark Burgess solo (check out Mark Burgess and the Sons of God 'Zima Junction' if you get the chance), and Weaveworld (John Lever's band). Also got the Reegs album. If you're looking for a natural successor to The Chams suggest giving Puressence a go - same big sound and intelligent lyrics and supeb live, they blew me off my feet when I saw them in Manchester last summer. The don't seem to play over here much, spendi g most of their time in Greece (where they are huge - not sure if that's a good thing), but keep an eye on the listings anyway. Keep up the good work keeping the Chams alive - I'm just waiting now for the return of the roughnecks in May 2000...

I've had the privelege of meeting Mark & John....and Sally. Without question the most humble of all people I have ever met considering their achievements and the cult popularity which resulted. Their's is the soundtrack to my life. Anyone visiting this website has been affected in one way or another by the music, and like me, have a love affair with my favorite songs. I change my mind and call one my favorite...then change it again and declare another. All precious gems. There's now news of the refor ation and I've heard from Mark himself on the progress and the news is indeed GOOD! A new* album is due out May of 2000, apparently acoustic remakes of our many favorites as well as one new song (*actually an old one that Reg never recorded) and a new ve sion of 'On The Beach'. May can't get here soon enough. I'm sure you're all familiar with the fate of INVINCIBLE and it sounds as though this transition follows historical suit, fueding members, disagreements over cashflow and an inability to distribute and to break on through. An enduring, endearing quality Mark seems to stygmatically posess. Keep your eyes peeled to the Gethsemene website for updates and release info. I know I am...... Martin

I´m glad to have found you on Internet, because I thought that you didn´t continue with your band.I have almost all your discography, always looking for your records in the music shops of Barcelona since 1990. When we can (my boyfriend and me go to some village music markets searching 80´S records. Well, my english is not really good but I want you to know that the music you´ve played is really intelligent, sensitive, with a social message. I like your rythm, I like your voice and of course, our humility. Nowadays, we only have thousands of commercial shit, a symbol of the decadence of our society at every levels. But likely, some years ago, you and some other good bands coming from U.K. mostly, left us an extense inheritance (bit difficult t get it) that we can enjoy at our homes because in my city we have not night-clubs dedicated to this kind of music (maybe you can find german industrial music but nothing more). So, I will be very glad to have news directly from you. I want to feel you´re alive! You know, nowadays 80´S bands are coming back, more or less, and 2 years ago we had the pleasure to receive the visit of Peter Murphy with the Bauhaus in Barcelona, and at the end of april we´re going to The Clan Of Shymox concert in our city too. o, I wonder when are you going to come here? I'm truly amazed at the amount of information I'm finding out about all my favorite bands. The Chameleons are right up there with LOWLIFE. If you haven't checked them out yet, do yourself a favor...They're very hard to find, but well worth the trouble. Punch them in on the UBL. If you like Joy Division, Cure, Siouxsie, Smiths, and the like, then I GUARANTEE you'll LOVE them.

It's about time someone made a page dedicated to the Chameleons. One thing I must say is that no matter what others might say, the Chameleons are in no way a "gothic" band. Too many bands that might be a little dark in nature get lumped together for easy eferencing. The Chameleons were undoubtedly one of the most influentual bands of the 80's. Hopefully they'll reform because if Bauhaus can, anyone can.
