This is a poem I wrote which is currently a semi-finalist in the 1998 Famous Poets Association poetry contest.

Lost

Walking through the darkness
Never knowing whats beyond;
Chasing rainbows that arc high,
And then are simply gone.
A child grasping depserately with
A tiny outstretched hand,
To hold a piece of hope and love,
For a star to gently land.
A faded stop sign,
Speeded past without cares
Sobbing so gently sits
An angel on heaven's stairs.
Swimming in deep and hopeless blue eyes;
Drowning in tears,
Lost among lies.
Questions, inquisitions, why, why, why?
Children tremble and scatter,
Hiding and shy.
On a buildings ledge
Ready to fly
Our hopes, they leap.
Our cares, the die.
