1999 eclipse

 waiting for the 1999 eclipse

We sat, and stood, atop a Cornwallian folly waiting for the end of the world. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. It just went dark for a bit and we went home. Because it was a dull overcast day despite being the middle of August allegedly the height of summer, it wasn't that dramatic in fact it was freezing. Contrast the pic of Plymouth, below - it's over the water from our mountaintop retreat - taken the day before, or possibly after, look at that sunshine!
All in all then, a disappointment and only 189 years till the next one. Like this is the way the world ends the world ends not with a bang but a whimper.
